    Graincoat

Yep, they do work. If you hit boil at start of sparge like you said then you've done something wrong, if you just getting to boil at end of sparge then your on a winner, usually hit boil 5-10 mins after sparge finishes. It does take alittle while to get to the boil when sparging due to the...

Dedicated Grainfather Guide, Problems and Solutions Thread

Is it the old model filter cap? Like a single piece Or newer model which had the rubber end cap and is longer horizontal? I have both models g/fathers but haven't gotten around to buying the new filter part for my old original model, but I should as the new one is better. Reminds me, I will...

White Labs WLP059 Melbourne Ale yeast to be released

Ok cool, it was my f up, as I just followed bribies posted receipe and it states 20 grms d hop into the pitching, but I was doing another brew at the same time and forgot, so just chucked it in at the end of ferment . Will get it right next time, still happy with the result, Can't wait for your...

White Labs WLP059 Melbourne Ale yeast to be released

Can taste the carbonic bite abit from the force carb compared to my pressure ferment brews. Deff can tell a diff in force carb and natural carb now I'm so used to natural carb. Haven't done a force carb beer in ages, so it will improve over the coming weeks . Will be keen to do some kegmenter...

White Labs WLP059 Melbourne Ale yeast to be released

Hey mate, This brew was done in my old stainless fermenter as my kegmenters were occupied at the time. I also only brewed 23 ltr batch first to try it , next time I'll go a double into the kegmenter . Was brewed at 20 degrees for 7 days then 3 days at 23 to finish out plus dry hop. I then...

White Labs WLP059 Melbourne Ale yeast to be released

I just kegged up the tooheys 1913 pale ale yesterday going on Bribies posted receipe as my book had not arrived by then. I think its good, malty with all the sugaz but mashing at 69 prob helped ,but it also crisp like a lager but its an ale, interesting yeast. Glad I grown and froze a heap as...

    Dry hopping while cold crashing?

I dry hop cold a lot of the time in my kegmenters. Still works good, enough for me, big IPA beers prob best warm dry hop first, but for my kegmenters pale ales and others work good enough cold. The main reason I dry hop in these cold, is as they are pressurised, it's best to cc, first to allow...

    Fermenting Under Pressure

Yes you could, but when it's warm and under 26-28 psi it's cranks out fast into a jug and foams totally, which would be a foamy mess to then let settle to add biofine. I purge samples this way to check grav. But recon 200 mls of cooled boiled water is a lot cleaner. We always have a cup of...

    Fermenting Under Pressure

Also mix it with about 200 mls of sanitised water ( pre boiled and cooled)into the PET bottle then inject, easier to do than trying to squirt 20 mls in, plus I recon it would disperse through the kegmenter better.

    Fermenting Under Pressure

I've done countless pressured brews now, 3 x 50 tr kegmenters running here in temp controlled chesties, ales, stouts , irish reds, plus heaps of lagers, all at 12-15 psi primary and all turned out great.no yeast stress or such or off-track esters etc, Better than my stainless ambient fermeters...

    Maxi-BIAB revisited

Good to see you getting good effiencey on thicker mashes. I've regularly seen as good or better effiencey doing thicker style mashes with my gear compared to what some say you can't get with a more traditional water to grain ratio.Well you can. Plus quality is still the same . Just got to be...

    Fermenting Under Pressure

You will need to get the kk low pressure gauge rated upto 80-100 psi. They are $9.95 last time I bought one. Put into kk search bar, "pressure gauge" it should show up or call them. Some thread seal tape and spanner and your away. Cheers

    Spunding Valve

That looks great for 2 days... Did you use any type of finnings? Give it a cuppla weeks and will be great. Even 1 week. 26 psi I find is good for me, it's a fine line between too little and too much. Pouring pressure for couple days will polish it up if you want more. I do find though that as...
