Shorten / ALP - bigoted xenophobes.

Surely two whites don't make a wong?

Shorten / ALP - bigoted xenophobes.

Seeing as most Australians ( 90 odd%) happen to be from white European ancestry, this ad seems to be representative of average Aussies. Just more political storm in a teacup stuff.

    First brew using coopers kit

No, "warm" means not hot and not cold but warm. Doesn't matter much if if the're conditioned at 16 c or 26c. "Month" means 4 weeks. Bottled conditioned kit beer generally needs a month to start hitting its straps IMHO.

    First brew using coopers kit

The standard lager tin uses ale yeast anyway mate. After bottling, leave somewhere warm for a month. You can improve ales buy putting in the fridge for at least a few days before drinking. Dry hopping with Saaz is not recommend as it has a tendency to make beer taste like lawn clippings Edit-...

    Wanted - fluted MillMaster.

MM3 with the fluted rollers is my first and only mill, so can't compare to the knurled version but..... Had it's maiden run today and milled 4.5 kg of malt in around a minute , with the grain being crushed perfectly for biab on a close gap setting. Didn't seem to have shredded the grain at all.

    fermenting honey, student science experiment

You just want to brew don't you? You could use some petri dishes with different types of honey at various concentrations ( x yeast for all) . Edit:- Why not use a dilution ratio of ..say..5:1 for testing ?

    BIAB - first go NQR

Yep. That's what I use in my software. 70's - low 80's seems like common biab efficiency from what i have seen. Good on you for having a go and refining your process. AG can seem a bit daunting with all the information overload new ag brewers often experience ( I know I did), but it's not really...

    Where to start?

Would be good if you could list the gear you do have so we can be more helpful . Biab is the easiest way to start ag. And in the future you can always incorporate the pot/urn into a more sophisticated setup if you like.

    BIAB - first go NQR

Changing your method probably gave you a more normal efficiency. 3.5 kg is a ****-load for 9 ltrs. As a comparison , to get 20 litres of 1052 out of my 30 ltr urn, I use around 4.2-4.3 kg of base malt (malt type dependent ), and my efficiency is within what most biabers consider normal . So you...

    St peters ruby red ale

Reviving this thread to see if anyone's come close to a clone in recent times. Had a few more attempts in the last couple of years but just can't seem to get close.

    Frozen fermented beer

I've had this happen a few times and just let it defrost then keg, with no decrease in quality.

If fermented a bit on the low side, I don,t find any problem at all with reduced hop aroma .

S-189 lager yeasts at Ale temps

S-189 lager yeasts at Ale temps

You should get an agreeable beer by using an mex cervesa kit , following instructions , except for a few things . Sub the 500g of booster for 300g of white sugar, boil 500ml of water and remove from stove ,add 10g of Pride of Ringwood hops, cover and allow to steep for 10 minutes . Cool the pot...
