Using one CO2 bottle, kegging and transfers

I don’t really trust the quick disconnects, so I’d just buy another barb to keep attached to the FZ gas line... Would be just as easy just detaching the kegorator barb and attaching the FZ one, as using a quick disconnect

    Yeast starters and equipment

I’ve done it, just make sure you ferment it out fully... more of a mini batch than a starter

    Digiboil hacks

Hoping to get a few more knowledgeable than me to look over the attached wiring diagram for a control panel bypass. I’ll be using a Craftbeer Pi, so need it to be able to handle short pulses of electricity. Still want to select the different elements and have the boil dry protection. Will...

    KegLand Questions and Answers

Do you have a rough idea what the dimensions of the bottles would be? My place isn’t big enough for a kegorator, and having these to go in the fridge door would be awesome... (much much cheaper than mini kegs!)

temperature mash - raise water and grains together to mash temp

That’s really interesting (as usual) Mark. Do you you happen to know what sort of wort fermentability you’d have from doing this? E.g would it resemble a 65oC mash, a 70oC one, or something in between?

    Digiboil hacks

The Digiboil seems to be an increasingly popular urn option, as a low cost alternative to the Crown or Birko. Out of the box it’s fine for basic BIAB, but for those of us looking at using the Digiboil with a PID, the control board complicates things. I recently bought one and will shortly...

    Anyone Using Brewfather?

Thanks mate. Will move this to a new thread, didn’t mean to take this off on a tangent. FWIW, I use Brewfather and it’s awesome... one of the many BS converts

    Anyone Using Brewfather?

Thanks Kenf, got one the other day and have only quickly opened it up for a look. Yes, at first glance seemed fairly simple but good to be able to validate what I’m planning. Tbh I’m surprised there isn’t already this info out there (at least that I could find). I already have the controller...

    Anyone Using Brewfather?

Hey, @Kenf, do you have any pics you can share of the wiring to modify your digiboil? Looking to do the same for a Craftbeer Pi. What did you do with the thermal switch? Just disconnect? Thanks HB

Don’t know if Kegland monitor other threads, next time try posting on the Kegland question and answer thread. But you’ll just get the same advice: same stuff but the KL versions...

Hi Peter, thanks for your reply earlier, just saw it

2019 NSW Amateur Home Brewing Championship

Hi Peter, can you please clarify something with the AABC style guide? Category 12 (specialty IPA) specifies session strength is an option for specialty IPAs, but I can’t find anywhere that specifically allows session American IPAs (11.2). So I could do a session Belgium IPA but not American...

Help please - crazy low OG

In answer to the question of will the beer be alright... sounds like you’re gravity is a tad low for an ordinary Bitter, but should be fine. I’ve been very happy with beers I’ve made around that range. What yeast and what IBUs though? Edit: just saw Nottingham. From memory that will leave...

I went and lost an o-ring for one of my carb caps. Any ideas where I can get a replacement?

    Fermzilla

Took me a few goes with the carb caps to get them right. Had sanitiser in fermenter, held upside down to test for leaks, and after a few goes found there was a sweet spot for tightening the carb caps just the right amount for a good seal. Wouldn’t want to put on a cap mid-ferment, I ran a gas...

    Alcohol free yeast

Yeah, when I get round to making it, will do about half their hops... from memory dry hopping has diminishing returns, especially after around 4 grams per litre. But also compare the cost for 2.5 cases you brew yourself vs 1 case of Carlton zero...

    Alcohol free yeast

Brewdog’s ‘Nanny State’ has been on my list for a while. It uses Cal ale yeast with a tiny amount of Munich malt, plus rye, wheat, crystals, etc. ABV of around 0.5% https://brewdogrecipes.com/recipes/nanny-state Apparently it’s one of their top selling beers...

    KegLand Questions and Answers

Yeah, I was thinking this would be a good option too

    Fermzilla

Has anyone tried to return? If mine had been dented I’d be pretty annoyed... Sure you can ferment in it but for the one @SpaceChef has the volume calibration will be a decent amount off (as well as overall volume being less than advertised)
