    Anyone Using A Bcs-460?

Just wondering if anyone has purchased a BCS-460 in Australia? I spoke to the developer and supplier from America and he said I'm the only OZ user. I seriously can't promote this piece of gear more than I am but it is working so good, 0.2 degree C during the mash, I'm using a fan heater in my...

    Filtration

It did seem rather cheap at $15 for the 1 micron filter element. I really must read that fine print.

    Filtration

From the few brews i've filtered using the element I'm thinking it might be nominal from what I've heard about 1 microns filtering sufficeintly.

    Filtration

I've been using a 1 micron filter, using gravity after a secondary fermentation and the beer is still not cystal clear. I AG brew, don't add finings. I've ordered a 0.35 micron filter element and thinking of filtering using the 1 micron as well as the 0.35 micron element as well in a twin...

    Brew Stand

Hi A3K I've used the same element by the looks of it. It was from a $19 Target Kettle from memory. This is in my heat exchanger which is a very thin SS 9L pot. To deal with a thin wall during install, I cut out a section around the hole from which the element came out of in the kettle and...

The Schwartz Brewery All Grain Home Brewing Competition

Got my results. Unfortunately I think all the judges were doctors as I could only just make out every third word they wrote, if they wrote anything at all, which one judge did, just numbers on the score sheet, or it was late in the tasting and they were hammered. A bit disappointing as it's...

    Deus

Thanks, just found them myself too. I'm moving in 6 months so will plan this brew after my move as I'm not sure if the removalist's will move homebrew bottles. Does anyone know if removalists do ship homebrew bottles?

    Deus

Sorry I was clear. The database didn't have Wyeast 3021 or 3347 so I had to add it to the instructions. They are the yeast I'm unable to find.

    Deus

I enjoyed it actually, which makes the benifits of making something similar using the clone recipe I posted pretty appealing, so for a bit more than the cost of a bottle, you could make 19L, now that's a pretty big savings. One thing about the recipe would be getting a hold of the Wyeast...

    Deus

That site is a great source for how to carry out Riddling and Disgorgement. When I make this DeuS clone I wont be Riddling and Disgorging as it's a bit much for now, maybe when I'm retired and that's many years away. I'll post the DeuS clone recipe from my BYO magazine into the Recipe...

    Deus

I've just been to the local taphouse, Darlinghurst, and bought a bottle of Deus. I have a recipe for it in a BYO magazine so I wanted to try it as i've never seen it before. I was wonderng if anyone has tried to make this and if so how did it turn out? The local is like a toy store, candy...

    Going Electric. Any Advice?

Those that are using electric elements that are fitted into their kettle, what model are they? I read that the power density, area/watts, of the heating coil is an important factor so as to not sorch the wort. What are peoples thoughts on this that have gone electric. What type of control are...

    Pid Control - Sensors (thermocouple)

I have a sensor at the exit of the heat exchanger which then runs back into the Mash Tun esky through a 30cm of tubing which flows into the esky at the opposite end of the esky outlet. The Mash Tun sensor is at the exit, which flows back to the heat exchanger. My theory is that these are the...

    Hook Norton's - Old Hooky

Cheers, I just had a shocker using Ringwood. From the replies, I was a little impatient with it starting as it's apparently a slow starter. Unfortunitely in my state of dispare I added some Safale s-04 to save the Wort. Oh well, you live and you learn. :icon_chickcheers:

    Hook Norton's - Old Hooky

Thanks BribieG, I can still remember scooping out the foamy head with my spoon on the table while having lunch and eating it like a moose, it was so dense and tasty, like a capacino. This definitely will be next on the brewing program now, so excited about it. Cheers :icon_chickcheers:

    Hook Norton's - Old Hooky

While over in the UK with the wife visiting her family I sampled many of their delicious real ales and one in particular that took my fancy was Hook Norton's - Old Hooky, see link http://www.hooknortonbrewery.co.uk/acatalo...tled_Beers.html I have tried to find a recipe but can't. At the...

    Dead Liquid Yeast

Sounds like I was too impatient with it. I haven't done too many liquid yeast before and expected some activity after 48 hrs. Maybe I should have taken a hydrometer sample before adding the dry yeast. I'm definitely doing this recipe again to compare the two. I followed Wyeast's instructions...
