unfortunately, that's exactly what I wanted to hear :)

    Carbonating AG versus Extract

I always store them in a room that keeps them between 20 and 25 at the peak, in the last week

    Carbonating AG versus Extract

it's been the same every time .. Wash the bottles, then soak in either the granular sanitiser (one step) or in Star San ... then throw in 1.4g to 1.6g per 375ml bottle, and fill it up to roughly where I drained the commercial stuff out of it.

    Carbonating AG versus Extract

Having only had these two methods of experience ... I am starting to feel like my BAIB AG's are a lot harder to carbonate ?? I have done perhaps 5 Extracts to 7 AG's ... and so far every Extract has come out carbonated like a frickin champion ... I could cry over some of my AG's ... I am...

    WLP005

with no starter, the gravity this morning say 60hrs from chucking the yeast in .. is 1024 ... I checked my notes again, and it actually started with an OG of 1062 ... not 1054 as advertised above

    WLP005

FWIW, I just put an English Brown Ale down with this yeast on Saturday, OG 1054, no starter, it took off in less than 4 hours bubbling away ... here 2 days later, it's almost cleaned up after its self too, barely any krausen to speak of, it's still bubbling slightly, so it hasn't finished, but...

    5L keg

The size I can boil, without spending more that is ... Have a 15L pot, but I always have to start boiling the first part of the wort, while waiting for Sparge, as it takes to long to get the whole 6 or 7 litres boiling within 30mins of more ... This is with the biggest burner on the stove. I...

Thank you sir, I will follow up those links

    5L keg

Hi there, have not made a plunge into kegging yet, but have a query about it I have been working it all out in 5L batches, and for various reasons I will stay at that size for a while longer, it's a bit of pressure to keep brewing, but that suits where I am at. Are there economical ways of...

    BrewPi - Fermentation control

Yes, mighty stable.... And I have gone really low-fi with it, it drives a small wine fridge that turns on to cool things. And a 40w light globe in a nestle quick tin that is the chamber heater. Which sits on an old small candelabra so it doesn't touch anything Takes me about 5-6 hrs to raise...

    BrewPi - Fermentation control

Basically everything you need is on the brewpi site http://docs.brewpi.com/advanced-setups/multiple-arduinos-single-rpi.html Permissions can mess with you a bit, in my experience, once solved the thing is perfectly "set and forget" afterward.

    BrewPi - Fermentation control

just cos I couldn't keep my hand off it :) .... I have added a second Arduino to the setup, so I can monitor the second chamber I have set up ... it was a piece of cake to do, and from the method they describe to do it, you could potentially run more than 2 ... just at some point the RaspberryPi...

    BrewPi - Fermentation control

One added wank factor I threw in, was to stick a microphone in the fermentation chamber to listen to the bubbling from a distance :) ... I could also record a 10 or 20 second, and look at the resulting file and count the time between bubbles, so I could determine if things were speeding up, or...

    BrewPi - Fermentation control

I use one, and they are great, accurate, and flexible ... although if there is any amount of geek in you, it will take you by surprise how often you will look at the bloody thing :) .... luckily it has worn off a little now, and I may go a whole day without checking it, after 2 months of...

    Very Pale Wort

moved it to secondary today ... still pretty anaemic looking (not green) it tasted the part, and smelled freaking awesome... has just started burping a bit of CO2 again, after being near dormant for the last 2 days, so here is hoping it continues on and it cleans up ... sort of looks like the...

    Rocket candy?

Thanks Mark, I think that's the go ... I purchased another Demi today, so I can put it in the back of the shed and forget about it for a while. Saving it for winter, and if it's not drinkable, by then I can probably lower the heating/lighting bill by setting fire to a rag in the neck of the...

    Rocket candy?

with the hint of rain this weekend, that may be an unwanted side effect ... but maybe I can use it to fire the burner for this weekends brewing ??

    Rocket candy?

I have made a terrible mistake, that I am just letting go through ... I commented elsewhere about not using my reading glasses and running with what I thought was 11kg's of sugar in a 20L ginger beer ... .. so after only being able to guess that it had an OG of 1180 - 1200 ?? (there was no...

    What Fun!

Hey Barley Bomber, (had to take a little moment quietly laughing at your moniker) weirdly, I have wandered into a shop or 2 along my recently acquired brew habit ... and got told not to do some things that I am doing ... so I have gone "online" with all my ordering now... and don't get lectured...

    Brew Pi Ferment Control

late entry ... I built one of these from buying a Raspi and not knowing what else to do with it ... it cost me less than $100 in parts (temp sensors, wire, solder, box to house it) ... I already had a small wine fridge that the wife let me use for the ferm chamber, and a 40w light globe in a...
