    Rye

I was planning on doing the ryePA as soon as possible (now I got my big boiling pot), and was planning to use Chinook and Cascade, apparently the Hallertau is a good sub for Mt Hood. Maybe I should use Amarillo & Cascade, or chinook. I have a 1272 yeast slurry sitting ready to go on this one...

    Champagne Bottles/ Cherry Stout

/me has flashback to previous life. I remember seeing some historic photos around the Seppelt Great Western winery, of guys bottling champers in the good old days. The method of corking then involved a tapered shute (similar to the hand corkers I've seen around) and a bloody great...

    Rye

I've had the same probs, really been wanting to do the RyePA recipe, but not been able to get rye malt. I checked on "tastybrew.com" and was promptly told crystal rye is not a suitable substitute. Maltcraft have Rye malt as a stock item (number 6014 I think) so most places should be able to...

Bloody work proxy server, makes it hard to post on this site. Anyway , for Champers corks, you need to find somebody who resells ASA or CSA corks, both of these companys supply corks to the wine industry. (from memory Grumpy's had some used ASA bags lying around, which means they may have a...

    25 Litre Jerry Cans?

This type of thing is either made from HDPE (code 2) or PVC (not sure on the code). With PVC it can "strip" flavours and / or taint . It's also no way near as chemically stable. When it burns it give off hydrochloric acid fumes. I'd steer clear unless it has the No 2 recycling grade.

    Cleaning My Bottles

I use the bulk dishwashing powder we get from "Mr Dishwasher". Works a treat, also does a good job a shifting PS labels off champers bottles

    25 Litre Jerry Cans?

Sorry Linz, you go this all wrong. The number represents the plastic type, in this case HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) is number 2, the three triangle signify the number represents the recycling code. Its what the recycling depots used to sort different types of plastics. You should find milk...

    Champagne Crownies?

Easy answer in wine bottles are not pressure vessels. Most will explode once pressure gets to around 1.5~2 bar.

    How Big Is Your Stockpile?

I have about 1/2 a 23L batch of Grumpys #1 APA left brewed, and almost a whole batch of Grumpy's #1 APA brewed with a differnet yeast and dry hopped ready to drink. Just bottled a batch of Boston cream ale on the weekend, and started a Newkie Brown batch , that'll hopefully bring the stocks...
