Got The Sack From Work By Visiting Aussie Home Brewer Forum

Hello friends, Thank you for your comments and support. It was my first week at this new job and perhaps I neglected to fully understand the company's IT policy and working culture. In all honesty I was more surprised than anything to find out they had a problem with visiting forums. Most of...

Got The Sack From Work By Visiting Aussie Home Brewer Forum

Hello friends, Just a quick note to share with you my story, Yesterday afternoon I posted a question on AHB about using finings as a clearing agent in beer. Was on the forum for about 5 mins in the afternoon checking the comments. Not long after was asked to step into the directors office and...

Can I Use Normal Edible Gelatine As A Finings?

Hi there, Forgot to buy some finings when I was the HB shop. I do have a container of normal edible geletine in powder form that I use to cook / make jelly. Do you think it would OK to use a teaspoon of that dissolved in hot water as a clearing agent? Any problems / side effects? I'm assuming...

Kmart To No Longer Sell Home Brew Supplies

BIG W are still stocking all home brew supplies. KMART have confirmed no more home brew. On a side note the phasing out of home brew supplies from KMART is probably a good thing for smaller home brew retailers. I love my local home brew shop. always fun going for a drive down. But even the best...

Kmart To No Longer Sell Home Brew Supplies

I've recently visited several KMART stores in Sydney to find that they are all going through a restrucutre. Many products are being ' phased out ' including home brew supplies. As far as I have seen all home brew products are now in clearance mode and there are very few (if any) products left...

Mangrove Jacks Classic Gold Lager - Has Anyone Tried It?

No I don't think it's a traditional lager yeast. Standard ale brewing tempretures apply 18 - 32 degrees, as the kit suggests.

Mangrove Jacks Classic Gold Lager - Has Anyone Tried It?

Thanks for the feedback. Just had a open up a 6-day bottle of the classic gold lager. Boy was I surprised. For a 6-day old beer was very carbonated, good head retention and great taste. I agree better than the coopers kits. I want to try the international series. Perhaps the Wheat Beer. John.

Poor Head Retention On 4 Day Old Beer

Hi Manticle, Thanks for the help. I have noticed that even at 3 days some of the beers I've brewed in the past have had excellent head retention. I will follow your advice though and leave it for another 3 weeks. John.

Poor Head Retention On 4 Day Old Beer

Hi there, Have bottled a mangrove jack gold lager 4 days ago. Just opened up a bottle today just to see where the beer was at. Beer has cleared fairly nicely, still a little clowdy (as would be expected for a 4 day old beer). Carbonation is pretty good. Only thing I noticed was while it...

Mangrove Jacks Classic Gold Lager - Has Anyone Tried It?

Let me know how you go with the classic bitter. Do you plan on using the yeast supplied in the can or will you be adding your own? John
