    hi all, wow i think ive been doing things a bit wrong cos i always pitch onto the full yeastcake,no cleaning ,just one old out, new one in and i have noticed on a couple of my bigger beers(usually pitched on the 3rd cake) a bit of a funny taste.i dont think its an infection,no bitter or sour...

    ive just used this kit in a partial recipe with 1kg of marris otter and 250g of wey smoked to make a scottish ale.tastes good after a couple of days in the fermenter, if it turns out ok ill prob start using as a base for some english ales.

    of the hops ive used i cant tell the difference in aroma when they are in pellet form except for nelson sauvin which reeks of passionfruit and i have to admit of the hops ive dry hopped with(fuggles,styrian,amarillo,cascade,sauvin)the cacade and the sauvin are the only ones i find noticable. rob

    ive made a cpa/canadian blonde a few times with some carapils/crystal and cascade late hopping and theyve turned out very drinkable tho can be a bit bitter early on.pretty good after 2 months. my mates seem to like this one and its quick.might try it with a couple of farmland cans for comparison.

    im currently trying to reculture the yeast from a bottle of chimay but it doesnt seem to be taking off like my coopers starters ive done in the past.is it normal for it to be slow starting as it seems to be growing(slightly more sediment on the bottom), there just isnt a krausen and no bubbling...
