    Thinking Of Selling My Gear

Rent it to an Extract brewer or someone who want's to go AG. Payment in beer. That's how I got into AG. I was lent the gear to brew while I slowly gathered my own gear. I paid rent on the gear by supplying the owner with beer when I could (about a 6pack a week). It's a good way to get other...

    Nc 10min Ipa

that's it in a nutshell. if you like malt driven beers, NC will work and I think gives you a deeper more complexed flavour. If you like hop driven beers, or a nicely balanced beer, get a chiller.

    Nc 10min Ipa

I ended up doing quite a few NC beers with 10min additions, all cube hopped additions, 60 40 20min bittering additions and the rest in the cube. out of all of them there was one i was kind of happy with: 20L Batch 94.3% pale 5.7% Caramunich 1 200g of cascade in the cube London ale III #1318...

    Coffee Grinders

Orrrrrrr, You could go to K-Mart and grab a $15 pasta machine. then you can throw a drill bit into your drill, throw it into reverse and take big chunks out of the rollers for knurling then you can cut off the handle so your drill will fit on it and mill some grain. This is Wheat, straight...

    Calibrating Sight Guage

Nath, You're not mixing chemicals here, it's a home brew kettle. if you're 50ml\100ml\200ml out it's not going to matter much. Hot or cold, it's irrelevant in this situation. get a few 1L measuring jugs\containers. fill one to the 1L mark, and pour it into the next one, does it measure 1L? the...

    Keg King Sanitiser Taste?

Simple, change your sanitiser. palettes are very much individual, we all taste things slightly different and you might be able to detect this more than others. Dont use it again and go for some starsan if you're after something more commercial. Never used KK sanitiser, I use bleach and vinegar BF

    Too Gassy

What batch size? 140g of cane sugar isn't too bad for a standard 23L batch aiming at about 2.4 volumes of co2 for a brown ale, possibly wind that back to 2.0 volumes which would be somewhere around 90g. in the future, use this: http://webspace.webring.com/people/ms/sirl...Calculator.html...

    Using Hop Bags In Boil

I *THINK* it's because the bag is pliable. using the basket around the perimeters allows the hops to roll with the boil. A bag would restrict and bunch the hops up.

    Using Hop Bags In Boil

Not really, i think that would hold no more benefiet than a hop sock. The idea is to have the "basket" as close to the walls and bottom of your vessel as possible. This would contain your hops while still allowing them to float around the wort freely. I was also thinking about a finer mesh on...

    Using Hop Bags In Boil

.071 mm hole size is suitable for pellets apparently, you will get some going out of the hopster, but nothing that would clog your chiller. cleaning would be just dumping the hops and hitting it with a hose. probably easier to clean than a hop sock. BF

    Brown Pump

So getting closer to buying these now So what's the go, threaded ones or the barbs? I like the idea of the threads as im thinking of getting cam locks to screw on, but the barbed ones seem simpler. Thoughts?
