    Kegging Setups

Nice setup you got there Siege. Where did you get those coils from. They fit in much better than the round ones.

    Show us your Trellis

Thanks mate. I wanted to have the height, but also wanted it easy to harvest. It also supplies a bit of shade for the vegie garden during the middle of summer. Yeah mate, we've got the block next door too. The vegie garden area isn't all that big though.

And lowered for easy picking. (sorry for multiple posts, couldn't upload more than 1 pic at a time)

    Show us your Trellis

Here's a few pics of my trellis. It stands about 5m tall with about 6m of growing length. The posts on the 4 corners are 60mm gal pipe with 25mm rhs joining the two sides. The centre posts are 3m of 35mm rhs on the bottom half, with 3m of 25mm rhs on the top half. The 25mm slides inside the 35mm...

Yeast harvesting tweak - Any issues?

Ok, that sounds easy enough. I was cold crashing, then decanting, so I was just trying to measure the settled yeast. I reckon 60 to 70 ml should be plenty for an ale. Cheers

Yeast harvesting tweak - Any issues?

Ok thanks Yob. So you use an estimate of 4.5. Sounds good to me. If harvesting from a starter would you set the non yeast percentage to zero?

Yeast harvesting tweak - Any issues?

I've just started using this method as well. I thought it would be quicker and easier than rinsing yeast. How are you guys estimating the cell count of your settled yeast slurry. I've just been using 3 billion cells per ml as a guide. But I've roughly calculated out over the last few starters...

    Another DIY stir plate

I had the same issue when I doubled up my magnets. Fan wouldn't spin anymore. You can glue the magnet to a large washer and it will disrupt the magnetic field enough to make it work. I used a holesaw to cut a disc out of 1mm thick plate, because height was an issue, and it was enough to get it...

    She said yes!

Hey mate, you might have to try my trick. I got some brewers clarex, or clarity firm. My missus is a coeliac too, and it works a treat for her. May not work for everyone but its worth a shot. Now she even helps me do a brew.

Looking for Pin Lock keg posts.

Hi Blind Dog, I'm near albury. That would be great if you could spare them. I'll shoot you a pm.

Looking for Pin Lock keg posts.

Hey Pok, One set would get me out of trouble, two would be better. Let me know how you go mate. MB, mine are normal corny pinlocks. Got them from cheaky peak. They have I think they have 1\2 female thread and fit a 13/16 or 21mm spanner. Are yours similar? Chees

Looking for Pin Lock keg posts.

Hey Guys, I'm chasing some posts for my pin lock kegs. Thought someone might have some spare after converting theirs to Ball Lock. Shoot me a PM if you want to sell me a set or two. Cheers.

    Dry Ice Hop Resin Extraction

Hey Mate, Sounds like a good idea to save space. Keep us posted if you give it a crack. You can pick up dry ice from BOC. About $10 for a kilo of pellets or a block.

    Pimp My TapKing

Yeah, same. I bought a couple of T's with different male / female combinations to try that. Just thinking it would be a bit of a pita to change bottles. Let us know how you go.

    Pimp My TapKing

Had a crack at mine a few nights ago. Found that you don't need to stuff around with different size hoses, and joiners. I also used a 1/8 bsp male to female 45 degree fitting as well to minimise fridge space. Hosetail fitting and 45 elbow cost around $8 at Enzed. You'll need a 1/8 BSP to 1/8...

    Pimp My TapKing

Cool, thanks for that. Might give them a try. How many bottles does one 16g bulb dispense. I've read every thread and can't find an answer.

    Pimp My TapKing

Just wondering if anyone has used regular non-food grade cartridges with their hacked tapking? I can pick some up cheap from a bike shop, but don't want to use them if it tastes shit. If not, what's the cheapest place to buy food grade 16g or 12g bulbs.

Brewing big and maintaining temperature in winter?

I use a big heat belt on the grease drums at work over winter so the grease flows through the hoses, and pumps quicker. Fits around a 205l drum. Just like a brew belt but supersized. Has a temp dial on it. Cost a couple hundred $ though, but would be safer than electric blanket.

    Chasing some cascade rhizomes

Yeah, all good. I was Pm'ed by a very helpful forum member. As Yob said, some will come up. You just have to be quick as the cascades seem to go pretty quick. Cheers
