    Testing Fermenters

    Put about a litre of hot water into the barrel, screw the lid on tight, pick it up & put you thumb over the airlock hole. Then shake the CR@p out of it! Moving your thumb should release the pressure it it's airtight & spray some water at you :)

    Brewing Cooper's Stout Kit

    For your Best Extra clone, do you use a Coopers stout kit with the 2kg minimash? What split of grains? 1kg pale, 500g Crystal, 400g Choc, 100g Roast??? I've just done a Stout based on this recipe. I used, 1 Coopers Stout kit 1 Tooheys Lager kit (got a few of these real cheap) ~500g JW dark...

    Porter Recipe

    I'm also a huge fan of the JS Porter. Note, I've only made 6 brews to date. I tried the Cascade Choc Mahogany Porter with Brewcraft #20 enhancer, 100g maltodextrin & 1 Tbsp Molases. Its too green yet for a review but hasn't the real dark colour of the JS Porter. I might use the Coopers Dark...

    Ginger Concentrate And Apple Concentrates

    I've just done a ginger beer as sugested by SpaceMonkey. Coopers GB kit. ~200g fresh ginger, diced up (couldn't find the @#$% grater) simmer a bit with some sugar. Add some Light Dry Malt (~300g) All up at least 2 - 2.25kg of fermentables. OG = 1.040 FG = 0.996 :) V tastey & V potent!
