Where can I buy a Kegmate?

Thanks Bribie, I will split one of the gas lines inside the fridge when I brew for a third keg. I have some barbed SS T-pieces that came with the KK set-up that I can use. Will reinforce join with a stepless clamp. Cheers

    New Grainfather and no recipes!

Here's the Beersmith profile I use for the GF. It's based on posts on various forums and the info supplied By Imake. I suggest using the new equipment wizard in Beersmith and inputting these or similar values if you can't import the published profile. It has worked for me. You also need to...

Where can I buy a Kegmate?

Thanks Bribie G, I think I've sorted it. Got pretty enthused about having the capability to serve each tap at different carbonation levels, so have bought a second Reg. (and in the future perhaps a third) so am able to carb each keg independently. I have seen other brewers mount a manifold on...

Where can I buy a Kegmate?

Hi Bribie G I have just picked up a Kegmate IV too and am in the process of getting the lines sorted. I'm a kegging virgin. How have you split the gas lines? Have you mounted a manifold on the back of the fridge or have you poked one line through the back and split the line inside? Is there...

Ok, another one. I would be very wary about adding dried salts direct to the mash. My experience with Gypsum, and Calcium carbonate especially, is that they are not very soluble. Epsom salts seem to dissolve more easily. They take ages to dissipate when bringing the strike water up to mash...

Sorry but might go a bit OT here... As Killer Brew says you need to contact the water authority directly. I downloaded the local water report from the internet. I found it was mostly about meeting standards for water quality, rather than exact reports of salt concentrations and pH (i.e.- a...

A couple of the Braumeister guys have reported in the Mashmaster MiniMill thread (and I think I have seen you pop up on that thread) that they are getting good mash and sparge results with a mill-gap of 0.9mm. Figure the Grainfather process is pretty similar. I'm getting pretty good results with...

There are so many factors to consider when it comes to mash efficiency. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter if you are hitting 70% or 85%, it's being consistent that counts. That way you can brew true your recipe, no surprises. Here's my 2 cents worth when it comes to the...

I have mine on the ground next to a table with all the brewing paraphernalia and sparge water urn. Can't see any problem getting it off the ground with a crate/bricks/custom stand, but the higher you have it the more of a challenge it will be to lift the mash tun for sparging. The one time I...

    Craft Beer Bars: Perth CBD

I'd say the Perth Restaurant scene is generally more expensive than the East Coast. Expect to pay $25-$35 dollars for a main course in most places that have a decent beer list. Not too hard to find Little Creatures and the larger local Craft Breweries on tap (e.g. Feral, Nail) in some of the...

    Craft Beer Bars: Perth CBD

Petition (http://petitionperth.com) has tasty fancy food and a great tap and wine list. Baby Mammoth (http://www.babymammoth.com.au) in Northbridge has 30+ bottled craft beers including some rarities. They have also recently put on a few taps, mostly for local craft breweries. Food is good...

    O2-ing my wort

I use the oxygenation rates quoted in Chris White's and Jamil's Yeast book. The experiments White Labs performed showed that using pure 02 at a flow rate of 1L/min with a 0.5 micron stainless steel sintered stone, in a 1.077 SG 20L Wort at 24C, resulted in 9.2ppm for 60 secs and 14.08ppm for...

Knurling on a Mashmaster Mini Mill

Yep, last mill at 1mm with the new rollers turned out pretty good for the Grainfather. Longest sparge yet at 20minutes. Next time I'm going to push it to 0.9mm. Reckon this is going to be the sweetspot for Grainfather using the new rollers. 2.1% hmm... Beats my 3.2% (target ABV 5.5%) with...

Torrified wheat - Can it be done at home

Working up a recipe that calls for torrefied wheat. Could flaked wheat could be substituted without problem? If I did use torrefied wheat I presume it doesn't need to be milled? That way it can imitate rice gulls and I'd say the poor things have been terrorised enough already.

    Mangrove Jacks new strains

This beer is drinking pretty well now. My concerns about it not finishing dry enough were unfounded. After 4 weeks in the bottle it has conditioned well, fully carbed and with the tart finish you should expect from a Witbier with 50% raw wheat. Enough yeast ester aroma to satisfy. My Lager...

Yep, tip a little without too many dramas gets you another litre or so. Pretty hard to do though for a hoppy brew If you haven't used a hop sock or spider. if you have free hop pellets in the boil the filter tends to clag with about 3.5L to go. Don't get much extra by tipping.
