    The Ashes

Looks like the ashes are going home. :super: For once the Aussies are relying on the weather.

    The Ashes

It is about time we beat you at something...Oh, I almost forgot that game of rugger a few years back. I am looking forward to Flintoff's knock tonight, he is turning into a real good all rounder.

    The Ashes

Well, I would of thought 5-0 but that has gone. :P

    The Ashes

Sounds alright to me 4-1 is what I have on at the bookies. :super: I think we (The Poms) have got the advantage in the third test, if we can put another 100 runs on tonight then I think the Aussie's will struggle to reach that target. You should of left sicknote on the subs bench. :D

    Types Of Hp Burners

Useless for measuring gas you mean, they do have another important use. I am toying with the idea of getting a second bottle on standby so maybe this is the way to go. I have read the stories of people running out mid boil, must be a nightmare!

    Types Of Hp Burners

Yes, same here. I did use a welding glove to get near enough but discovered there was no need as you can easily use the other one. How many hours use do you NASA blokes get out of a 9KG gas bottle? I got a full one and it is already showing half empty on the fuse although I don't think they are...

    Thermometers

Still waiting.....They could arrive today hopefully. I am going to send the ebay guy an email if they don't come today just to chase it up and find out how far along we are, I am raring to brew but have no thermometer so it is all on that. Did you order yours from ebay?

    System Test

Ah, sorry mate  Just couldn't help myself. I had a picture in my head of the kids going in the cupboard to get their breakfast and it was sitting in your boiler. :D :super:

    System Test

I have read most of Palmers online book and although he says you should stop sparging when you get to 1.008 it seems a bit strange to be measuring the runoff and converting to allow for the temperatre in the middle of a hectic (For me anyway) brewday. As a novice is it possible to just sparge...

    System Test

I don't follow what you are saying here. Should I be checking the wort as it runs out of the MLT to see what the reading is on my hydrometer? How will I know when it has hit 1.010 otherwise? I thought that I would just sparge until I hit a pre determined volume in the kettle, in this case 30L...

    System Test

I did a full dry run of my system today to check how it all works and where I am lacking, it went pretty well but for a few things. I boiled around 40L in my HLT keg and drained the water on to the 500g of crushed grain that I had on hand from testing my mill (No I did not use coco pops) :D ...

Bragging Time - First Ag On The Weekend

I paid $68 for an 18M roll from a local plumbing place, that seemed like a very good price to me. I made a main chiller using around 14M of the roll and made a small pre chiller which I will dunk into a bucket of ice during the hotter weather and hopefully bring the temp down to a pitchable...

Bragging Time - First Ag On The Weekend

I made an immersion chiller from 3/8 last week and found it very east, and for me, being tool challenged that is saying something. I just rolled as normal and then cut one of those brass hose connectors (Bunnings) in half and soldered it on using my NASA burner to provide the heat. Nice water...

    Crankandstein Mill Crush Problem.

I paid for airmail which was $50US, surface mail was around $30US but was quoted at up to 10 Weeks. I got my mill in 2 weeks by airmail and that was with a delay due to the shipping company changing their policy. I think fred used USPS and the stamp on the package was $46.90 plus the cost of the...

    Crankandstein Mill Crush Problem.

Hi Jase, I bought the mill direct from the Crankandstein website and all up with shipping from the US it weighed in at $159 US dollars through paypal which is around $200 Aussie dollars..Expensive and not a vital part of a setup but I had some spare cash so what the hell. :super: I am going...

    Crankandstein Mill Crush Problem.

It was actually around 150g of each Crystal, Roast Barley and Choc. I have had them in the cupboard for a fair while and probably wouldn't of used them in a brew. I might just move the gap a tad wider for when I do my first AG and see how it goes with the first 250g, maybe move it back if...

    Crankandstein Mill Crush Problem.

I finally sussed it, I came upstairs had a cup of coffee when I posted this question and went back to it with a fresh pair of eyes and it hit me straight away...I had the mill attached to the plywood upside down  so the grain was falling from the hopper hitting the revolving roller and...
