What To Do With Maltodextrin And Cooper's "brewing Sugar&quot

Hi, The good folks at G&G sent me 500g of maltodextrin by mistake. I've also got some Cooper's "Brewing Sugar" which I think is maltodextrin and sucrose. I'm a confirmed AG brewer (done about 10 batches so far and loving it!). What should I do with the maltodextrin and brewing sugar - chuck...

    Grain Mill Question

What about one of these: http://schmidling.com/maltmill.htm BTW, as I'm only doing small batches I don't need anything motorised (plus I could do with the exercise!).

    Grain Mill Question

Hi Folks, In an effort to reduce my AG brewing costs I'd like to start buying my base malt in larger quantities (as it's about half the price from G&G). ATM, I order on a per recipe basis but obviously if I bought a 20 kg bag of JWM ale malt things would work out cheaper. To do this I need to...

    Malty Apa Recipe

Hi, I'm interested in brewing an APA although I tend to prefer malty brews over hoppy ones. This is my first attempt at an AG recipe for a malty APA: American Pale Ale with Caramel Recipe Specs ---------------- Batch Size (L): 20.0 Total Grain (kg): 5.000 Total Hops (g): 50.00 Original...

Want To Move From Brew In A Can To The Next Step

Not sure if this is mentioned in the previous links, but the method I use is very simple and requires minimal equipment. The results have been good too! I use an esky for mashing, siphon the contents into the boil pot and boil on a stovetop.

Want To Move From Brew In A Can To The Next Step

If you're in Melbourne it would be worthwhile going to one of the G&G demos. I think there's a "system shootout" coming up which includes BIAB. You'll also see other approaches.

Lager And Ale Mixed Recipe Question

Hi, I'm relatively new to AG and I'm a fan of malty brews. I have a recipe question which I'm sure someone here will be able to answer. What happens if a malty lager recipe is used (say, the Traditional Bock recipe in BCS) but it's fermented with an ale yeast (S04 or US05)? Cheers, Chris

    Highest Strike Water Temperature Question

Hi, With the AG brews I've done so far, my mash temp has come out a bit low. So far I've been hitting 64 degrees but for my next batch I'd like to hit 67/68 degrees. To get a 64 degree mash I've had to use 75 degree strike water. I know that this temperature affects enzyme activity and also...

Water To Grain Or Grain To Water?

Hi, In the AG brews I've done so far (mashing in an esky) I've warmed up the esky, drained it, then put the grain in and then finally added the strike water. In HTB it suggests adding the water to the grain. However, I've heard that people take a different approach and fill the esky with the...
