The BM has an airlock - or a pressure release valve. Once it hits 15psi internally, it releases the CO2. Apparently good for carbonating. On paper it looks like it will do the trick, just wanted to make sure I got my maths right for the ingredients. Thanks for the feedback.

Resurrecting an old thread. forget the packets specially made for this thing - the user guide says it can be used to make beer from other kits. As this is just 10L - would I e.g. boil up a single can of unhopped malt, add hops, cool then stick in the BM for fermentation (with a good yeast)...

Ok, so I have 2 beer machine kits, which appear to be malt, brewing sugars and hops (in powdered form?). Theoretically, can I use this for extract brewing? Was thinking of boiling it up,adding real hops and some additional fermentables, pitching a yeast and brewing. The pack alone makes 10l of...

Would the bags be sterile, or would you still have to sanitize? I can imagine it being a bit tricky. Will keep an eye out though, seems like a very good idea.

So I got hold of a 30l plastic bin, with lid. It says hdpe 2 on the base. I thought, this is the bizness. When I got home and checked, it appears not all hdpe 2's are the same... <_<

Funny, I was just looking at those exact models this morning :D I think I will grab one. Will probably store in a cool room, around 22-24 C (its cool for where we are). Would I be best making bitters and ales, rather than lagers?

I have all the ingredients for an extract brew, managed to bring them in over a few trips. All I need now is a FV, but I have spent so much time, and risk, bringing it together that I do not want to stuff it all up by choosing an inadequate FV. If I have to wait until I find it, so be it...I...

It was the heat issue I was worried about, and ensuring heat could escape. Anyone know if this issue is just an urban myth, or has it been proven to impact the fermentation process? Aren't eskys designed (amongst other things) to hold liquids for drinking i.e gatorade, water etc? Would think...

I've searched high and low for the past 3 weeks for a suitable FV and I just cannot find anything like a food grade bucket. I can source a 35l rubbermaid esky. Its like a tall insulated bucket, with a screw on lid, and a tap about 2 inches from the bottom. Nice smooth insides. I have read these...

It is the likelihood/risk I want to quantify. If done in a clean environment I am hoping the chances of contamnation are minimal. I will give it a go. Thanks.
