    Adding yeast when bottling lager?

    Have been brewing some k&k lagers using 34/70 yeast, the recipe says to add another yeast packet at bottling time - I guess to help with carbonation. Is this really necessary?     Thanks for the advice, all bottles now re-primed, inverted and in the laundry at 18C, see how they are in a week or so. Might stick to dextrose in the future
