Looking to buy a small fermentation fridge - Melbourne

Legend! Thanks for that! It maaay be a smidge far for me. I'd have to convince my partner to make the trip as I don't personally drive. I'll also have a squiz on FB Marketplace. Never really used it but it seems pretty active.

Looking to buy a small fermentation fridge - Melbourne

Hey gang, I recently put down my first AG batch and decided it's time to finally get myself a fermentation fridge. I'm mainly after a bar fridge that would fit a Coopers fermenter - but would also consider a full-sized fridge if it's on the smaller side. If anyone's looking to sell one, I'm...

    Looking to buy some bottles

That'd be fantastic, thanks so much! I'll PM you.

Any potential issues with this heating setup?

True! Though I'm pretty sure the aquarium heater has an in-built one.

    Looking to buy some bottles

I've run out of bottles somehow! So I'm looking to buy about 20 or so more. Preferably swing tops, but crown seals work well too. I'm in Melbourne's inner-north. Would like to avoid buying them from a brew store - pretty pricey there.

Any potential issues with this heating setup?

A temp controller for the heater? Or attached to a fridge? Actually considering a fermentation fridge, though I'm in no huge hurry. If I happen along one I'll definitely set up a temp controller. Meanwhile, my aquatic pale ale is fermenting smoothly.

Any potential issues with this heating setup?

So far so good! It's been over 24hrs since I put it in and it's been sitting at a stable 18 degrees the whole time. (I left the water a bit lower as the heater's minimum is 20 degrees.) An added bonus: I've been at work all day and came home to an intact house and fermenter.

Any potential issues with this heating setup?

Hey gang, I've set up this primitive yet hopefully effective heater to keep my brew around 20 degrees. For anyone wondering, it's an aquarium heater in around 20L of water atop a plate (for a little insulation from the plastic) that I'm going to put my fermenter in. Once the fermenter is...

    Coffee Pale Ale

I once used 2L of cold steeped coffee in a 20L batch of stout. It was quite nice, but crazy bitter, so be careful with it. I'd recommend starting with a smaller amount, 4L is quite a lot and will probably overpower any other subtle flavours you're going for. Maybe it's worth splitting the batch...

    Milling Grain on the Cheap.

Yeah, ordering it crushed seems to be the way to go. That or I'll just continue with the coffee grinder for the moment. It comes with the added bonus of adding a slight Horlicks flavour to my coffee. Do those 500g of specialty grains make a whole lot of difference to a 20L batch?

    Milling Grain on the Cheap.

Thanks for the advice gang! I did try the coffee grinder route once, but I've been told that it's quite inefficient because the grains aren't actually crushed. The pricier mill looks peachy, and I definitely want to get into all-grain brewing at some point this year (once I get around to...

    Milling Grain on the Cheap.

Hey there brew pals, I'm looking for some kind of device or tactic that will mill small amounts of speciality grains to improve my very mediocre kit n' kilo efforts. The only brew store that can do it for me (Grain & Grape) is a bit out of the way, I'm gunning for convenience, so that's out for...

After some feedback for my wheat recipe.

The bag says wheat malt, so I imagine so. I just wanted to have a go at using some fresh stuff. Cool! Mashin' it to the max! May just have to go with the yeast I have, I've been to two different brew stores and the selection of yeast has been pretty dismal, no smack packs. It'll do for a...

After some feedback for my wheat recipe.

Aloha mighty brewers! I'm doing my first wheat brew that will hopefully be ready for Christmas. If I have to spend four days with the family I'm not doing it without 19L of beer. The aim is to have some light, cloudy Hoegaarden-esque brew. Here's what I have: • 1x tin of Coopers Wheat (kit...
