yes, I'm running a coolroom. Using a small window air-con. Keeps the kegs at 3degrees no problems.
When I first built it I ran the numbers on running costs and it came out at about $35-$40 a year to run.

you should access the sensors by their address rather than by index. If one sensor fails for some reason you may read the sensor value at the first index and not realise that its actually the second sensor. The DS1820's have a burned in unique address so there is no chance of mixing them up...
I've seen the issues you pointed out.
Basically I reset the bus completely and make a new request.
It shouldn't be taking 1900 milliseconds for the conversion. That's nearly 2 seconds ! The spec sheet says a maximum of 750 milliseconds for conversion if in parasitic mode. My understanding...
Certainly can be done. I built something similar a few years ago now.
Just needed to bypass the cooler thermostat to get it to go low enough (4c) as I have 8 taps on the front of mine.

Yep, thats the one !
I wrote the damn thing then couldn't find it.
Thaven't really had any issues with it and SWMBO reckons it great when we have parties as there is sometimes enough room to store the overflow of food in there as well.

Took me ages to find this thread again.
Anyway, I've built a 'coolroom' using 75mm coolroom panels and a small AC unit. It holds 12 kegs easily and has a separate section independently temperature controlled for up to two fermenters.
The system works a treat and has for the past 3...
Would have to agree there.
I've got a book somewhere that shows a similar system used in the UK in the 1800's. I think it was for mash stirring.
I'd have thought that it was to prevent grain sticking to the bottom of the mash tun, let's say, if you were doing direct fired step mash.

Bizier !
Dude, haven't seen you at a meeting for ages ! Thought you'd dropped of the edge of the world. You REALLY REALLY need to come along to more meetings. This Monday night should be a good one !

There are several people working at the moment on getting this sorted out. We are looking at the domain issue as well. We are very lucky that a couple of people have stepped up to keep this event running but that cannot, and will not, do it all on their own.
If you can in help out in any way...
Kaiser,
I hooked a power meter up to my new system ages ago and got good results. Its based on a small box air-conditioner unit cooling a customer built by me coolroom holding 8 kegs. It worked out that the system would cost around $38 per year to run. Not quite the same as what you are...
There should be an installer for the driver. Run that to get the drivers installed. You should not have to manually copy drivers around. Actually if you do just try to copy drivers to the right place the OS will NOT load them due to security issues. Use the installer as it will put them in...
Got the FTDI(?) driver installed on the Mac ?
I've had it all work correctly on a circa 2002 machine with no problems once the driver was installed. Haven't run the latest Arduino 1.0 IDE on an old machine so there may be issues there.

I used a small reverse cycle box air conditioner. Got it on clearance at the end of summer last year. And 'nope' I'm not a fridgy. If you do ahve access to a fridgy get him to put a cooling unit together and fit the thing yourself. Then just get him to gas it up for you.
On my system, I've...
Nibbo,
Off the top of my head I'd look at using an Arduino for the temp sensing and have it send the results to the USB port. Your Mac picks up that and does whatever it wants with the data. There are lots of samples around that use an Ardiuno to get temperature readings. You then use the...
