Thanks Manticle, that's a big help, according to the brewcraft calculator (thanks grott) it should be about 1020, so I will turn the temp up to 16 and give the fermenter a gentle swirl then check it again in a couple of days

Manticle the brew has been sitting on 1030 since 09/04 And the yeast was saflager S23. Do you think I should try to get the yeast going again, maybe bring the temp up a little and give the fermenter a swirl? Or should I buy a new packet of yeast and re pitch? Thanks

well the beer has been in the bottle tor 3 weeks now and I must say it is supurb, im not getting much of a head on the beer but its carbonated just fine and the flavour is great. next week i start the next batch, possibly a czeck pilsner. thanks for all of the advice and encoragement especially...

thanks manticle, im bottleing into 750 ml pet bottles, so do you suggest i add only 1 carbonation drop per bottle?

ok I have done the fast ferment test and the hydro reading is 1020, so is the wort in the fermenter. so should I just bottle it this weekend?

quick question, what should the hydrometer reading be for plain (tap) water? Mine reads 1100.
