    Getting Rid Of It All

Since the birth of my two little girls I've not had any time to brew, so its time to get rid of it all. 1 x 50 Copper Boiler converted to Gas Burner 1 x Nasa Burner and HP Reg 2 x 17L Cubes. 1 x 30L Fermenter. 1 x Stirrer 1 x Counterflow Chiller (bought from Goliaths when they were around) 1 x...

The Coopers Add They Didn't Run

All to do with the copious amount of rain we had last week. The West End Brewery has, on the banks of the Torrens, for years put on a Christmas Lights display, parts of which was the "whale" (what on earth this has to do with christmas I dont know). Anyway the river rose very quickly with all of...

The Coopers Add They Didn't Run

Rip off of the Coopers add in the advertiser on Saturday. If you dont know anything about the recent "floods" in SA this won mean a thing to you... <_<

    Old Copper Water Boiler

The elements were buggered, and shorting out, might have been the problem in the first place. Sorry vincent_vega.

    Old Copper Water Boiler

I have decided to bit the bullet. I've ripped all of the wiring out, and am going to mount my "Nasa" burner in there somehow, should give me a lot more adjustability over the boil rate. I just need to get my old man to help with welding up the holes on the base, and cutting a new pick hole. I...

    Old Copper Water Boiler

Unfortunately its not that easy. I'd like to use the unit up in my shed, which is about 30m from the house, and only has one circuit leading up to it.

    Old Copper Water Boiler

I managed to pick up a farily old piece of washing equipment yesterday, its an old copper, with two electric elements on the base. I checked out all of the wiring this morning and it looks fine. However just looking at the details on the base , and its 4Kw total power  Which from my...

    Turn Up The Heat

Just got one of these burners as my B'day pressie. Woo Hooo..... Only problem is getting the gas pipe to seal, anybody else had this problem, it appears to be related to the port being drilled off centre, and machining marks on the sealing surface. My understanding is that "pipe" tape is not a...

    Cleaning Glue Off Bottles

Toluene is also one of the more nasty chemicals, its is very carcinogenic I've always found dishwasher powder and boiling water a good way to get label off cleanly, even chapagne bottle labels.

    Plastic Cooler Bottles

These bottles being made from Polycarb as well, do not have great resistance to chemicals, eg acid and alkaline, so it wouldn't be a good idea to store with sterilizer in it long term. Just thinking about these bottle though, and they would make good conical fermentors, with the addition of some...

    Home Made Headmaster Glasses?

This maybe a little wierd, but I got told by one of my bosses about a trick they use in the US, being to add 4 uncooked grains of rice to the glass  I tried it last night on a brew which is carbonated fine, but doesn't hold a head, and it worked a treat :D Just dont try it on a...

I Now Know What Autolysis Smells Like

Autolytic smells are almost "bready" or like vegemite. In Champagne's it is sometime encouraged to get to autolysis, it can actually enchance the flavour.

    Help With My Car!

From memory you need to use the coat hanger wire to push a snap clip in, ie form the coat hanger into to "U" shapes, push em both in , you should hit some resistance, and it should then pop out. I would have thought the speakers would work OK , if you just use the other wires already plugged...

International Beer Festival - What A Crock Of Shit

I cringe every time I hear the word "premium" . Having used to work in the wine industry where premium is used to describe everything above export swill, ie Rawsons Retreat is classified as "premium"
