    Method to brewing Cider

I feel like I've finally cracked how to brew proper cider and I thought I would share my methods. The recipe is not so important, it's more about how I do the fermentation that I think works well. I've searched for ages on how to do a cider that has some sweetness, lots of taste and does not...

It is the Safale T-58 yeast. Got some more gear to do this batch again :)

Here is a better picture of beer in action. Had a friend over who is not too keen on "weird" beers. He loved it :)

Pear Cider from grocery store juice

O and as for finding other pear juice in my searches: nope. I was surprised at finding this one. There was a brand that did an apple/pear juice which would've been ideal, but it had other crap in it and was re-constituted. This juice I found with the other Berry juices and things in the regular...

Pear Cider from grocery store juice

Not sure what %, but I took info from all over the forums about making non-kit cider and the best I could come up with was pressing my own juice or grocery store juice at a ratio of 4:1 apple:pear. I figured I would go one better and get the juice that is pure with no preservatives...

Pear Cider from grocery store juice

Mmmm... not sure but all up it was just under $60. A bit pricey I know, but waaay cheaper than pressing my own apples/pears and more control than a kit.

Pear Cider from grocery store juice

Making a Pear Cider for the wife, but I am quite interested in how it is going to turn out. Made a Black Rock Apple cider kit first, took 2 weeks to ferment at 18 degrees, and after kegging I dumped the pictured juice on top of the last 1L with yeast and let it rock again. Guess I will know if...

    Brew Fridge Upgrade Recommendations

I thought I would post a pic as it says way more :) Have a thermostat that keeps the freezer at the correct temp as well. Hanging in the middle of the freezer from the lid as you can see.

    Yoour Bottle Of Choice

Grolsch do import size 450ml swing top bottles. I've switched from PET to this recently and loving it. I do keg first though and then use a counter pressure filler to transfer to the bottle. Keep the kegs full and have a nice stash of bottled beer for take aways :)

    Cider With Lager Yeast

What are the differences in taste when you use a lager yeast compared to a cider yeast (champagne yeast??)? Or an ale yeast for that matter? Making an apple cider soon, and this is a pretty interesting topic I think.

    Brew Fridge Upgrade Recommendations

Hey guys, first post :) Bought a 2nd hand chest freezer off Gumtree for $50, motor was running but it wasn't cooling at all. Had to drive 50km (each way) and spend $25 on toll to get it, so after fuel etc. was probably closer to $90. Everything closer to me was more like $150-$250. I was very...
