Just wondering if anyone has had a go at making a Blichman style quick carbonation unit and how it went? I noticed you can get small 12 volt recirculation pumps on Ebay, unfortunately made in China and if they too are any good or what a good alternative may be.
Sorry I haven't replied to the more recent posts buy got bowled over with the dreaded Covid bug, when in Sydney, but I will definitely be sourcing some silicone seals now I'm just about back on track
I think you're spot on. I usually try to fill up to the top weld line, but wondering if it was a bit over this time. Now a litre or two has been taken out of it the problem seems to be gradually resolving itself.
Morning all, I have been using the set and forget carbonation method for a long time without issues until my most recent batch. The pressure was set at 12 psi, and I was away for about two weeks, by which time when I came home I thought it would all ready to go. No the beer poured Ok showing...
Sorry about the late reply but I have been away. I change the o rings fairly regularly, but I haven't tried the red silicone ones, well worth a shot. Thanks
Assuming you mean the O-ring when you pull the cap off the top, Measure it up (you need someone with the right gear), and you will find it in bearing and O-ring suppliershop. If you cant find anyone to measure it for you, let me know and I will measure one of mine and send you the details
It sounds like the stainless may be a bit of overkill at this stage. Definitely a plastic conical that you can pressurize is worthwhile as you can also toss it in a fridge with an InkBird or other temp controller on it and keep your fermentation temperatures under control, which many newbies...
Having other brewers say they never have an issue, I too can't now ever remember having this problem up until maybe 5 years ago (and I been brewing for a long time) when I got rid of my old kegs a bought 4 new ones (KegLand) and that's when the trouble started. I wonder if it an issue with the...
Across the board there are brewers (including me) complaining about troublesome ball lock disconnects that are difficult to get on and near impossible to get off. I know in some cases it's because they have wound up with a gas post on the beer out side and other such things. while I haven't...
Welcome, I'm sure in Sydney you will get to meet plenty of fellow brewers. Even though I live on the south coast I lived in Sydney for many years, and do know some from "The Shire" may not consider that area as being part of Sydney, but so what.
Welcome Rob, I lived in a place called Bungendore many years ago and when I changed to all-grain brewing I wondered why I couldn't get conversion. Turned out their was som much magnesium (from memory) in the water it was way too hard. In those days it wasn't the science (at a hobby level anyway...
Putting lube on and definitely not getting gummed up with old beer
No plastic, and from what I have heard the stainless don't seem to be any better. But if that's wrong, please let me know
