I would agree with lecter fan that US05 does have a flavour to it. Try a beer made with US05 and a beer made with Nottingham, another 'neutral' dry yeast and the yeast flavour is certainly different. I once made a beer with US05 that had a distinct wine (think Sauvignon Blanc) taste to it...

Do you have temperature control for your lagering and are you bottle conditioning? I have been considering trialling some bottom fermenting yeast but haven't been able to justify running by brew fridge just for 4-10L of beer.

I used to brew kits and bits (23L) then extract (10L) but now 1 brew BIAB (4L) with a 15L stock pot. I'm not a big drinker and get a lot of enjoyment out of brewing different styles of beer so the 4-5L mark is best for me. I have found that 4-5L is also the easiest to manage in my...
