    Diacetyl rest not working

Ok. I'm learning the hard (or buttescotchy) way on this one. Missed the optimal time to raise to diacetyl rest temp. Will raise up to 22 for a couple of days and see how it goes.

    Wort Chiller not great

So to update on today's brewing: pretty successful! Ended up dropping pond pump in the pool & recirculating that through immersion chiller til wort hit about 32°C. Seemed to stabilise there even though pool was at 27°. Guess that's the inefficiency of heat transfer through copper? Then...

    Wort Chiller not great

Brewing a lager tomorrow. My plan, after all the excellent advice I've received here, is as follows: 1) Tap water through wort chiller - running out into the pool. 2) pond pump immersed in bucket of ice - recirculating ice water through wort chiller, back to bucket of ice. Means I don't...

    Wort Chiller not great

Gents - this was my first post & I'm overwhelmed by the response! Thank you so much! I used to recirculate into an ice bucket with a pond pump, but ice just melted way too fast. Already doing the ice and salt water which brings the ice coil down to 0° - sometimes probe is even reading a...

    Wort Chiller not great

Howdy. I'm looking for some advice or wort chillers. I've built a copper two coil system. First coil is immersed in ice. Second immersion coil in wort. Connected by garden hose between two coils. I can drop wort from 100°C to 30°C in 30 minutes - WINNING - but won't go any lower than 28°C Any...
