I use a cheap fan heater ($15 from Coles/Bunnings/etc) in my fridge which is triggered from my digital thermostat, set to heating mode. It heats the fridge up quick and the fan circulates the air giving a more stable/even temp.

Not sure what the Motorola motor driver circuit costs but as an option you could use either the top or bottom circuit of the attached to drive a fan up to 3A (3A might be a bit of overkill...). It uses a 555 timer to adjust the PWM applied to the fan and hence the speed for those that are...

ok, so I should be using the volume of all water used from scratch, ie, mash water + sparge water to calculate efficiency, not the final wort volume? this would take into account all losses due to grain absorption, kettle losses, etc...
