    Chimay Yeasts....

Hey team, anybody know if the yeasts in Chimay beers are worth culturing ? I heard/read somewhere that they put a second yeast in the bottle at bottling, therefore rendering the yeast in the bottle useless. Anybody else heard the same ? I bought a couple today (research purposes !) and would...

Great night, thanks guys. The beer in question was VERY well made too. I also tasted a few from the members there. They were also of an excellent quality. I think I've found my second home..... Regards, CV

    Mash Tun

Well, down to Bunnings I went - to fetch a new ball valve assembly. No 15mm valves in stock, so I went for a 20mm and a reducing fitting (nipple). AAAGH !!!! Sorry guys - busy week.... I've heard that the best esky coolers are "heat proofed" to avoid warping. Dunno if the new one is, but will soon find out.... I did my first mashes in a 20L bucket that had insulation wrapped around it. Rustic, but the beer was fine. Couldn't do lotsa grain so it...

    Options For Boiling Wort

I use an old s/steel keg that I cut open with an angle grinder. For fire I use a ring burner on a gas bottle. My burner is a little small though - takes quite a while to get the boil happening. Bunnings doesn't carry them anymore. Any one in Melbourne know a supplier ? Thanks, Charlie.

Hi team, Charlie from Croydon, Vic here. Back brewing after a 10 year layoff. Great site ! Done many can kits, extracts and a couple of mash beers. I'm mainly concentrating on low gravity beers at present (my own reasons....) so any low alcohol beer recipes are very much appreciated. Under...
