How long have you kept crushed grains for?

Agreed, I have order online from another supplier who has provided great product and service. I will probably stick with them for ingredient purchases. And thanks all for the feedback. Good to know this grain won't go to waste!

How long have you kept crushed grains for?

Hi all, I went to my LHBS on the weekend for some steeping grains and unfortunately they only sell the crushed grains pre-packaged. I had to get a 500g bag of brown malt even though I only needed 150g. The LHBS reckoned that I could put the rest in the freezer and that they would last up to 6...

    Inkbird ITC-308 temperature controller questions

Great, it seams to hold temperature fairly well. Although it probably doesn't help testing it when the ambient temperature is about 40 degrees!

    Inkbird ITC-308 temperature controller questions

Thanks TwoCrows and Stouter, I can't believe I didn't think to use my thermometer to calibrate the inkbird! I must of just been to excited with a new gadget. I thought that a 0.5 degree differential would be to small but if its working for others then great. Thanks again Brendan

    Inkbird ITC-308 temperature controller questions

Hi all, I recently got my hands on an old fridge and an inkbird ITC-308 temperature controller (short probe). I've been doing a bit of a test run today and so far I'm pretty happy with it. I do have a couple of questions for those of you using this controller: I did a temperature calibration...

My Extract Brew Method - please criticise

Looks a good method and is basically the same as my process at the moment except for a couple of small changes. I reduce the amount of extract at the start of the boil to try and match the full volume OG. This way you get better hop utilisation so you can reduce the amount hops your using or...

    WTB Crown Urn, Parramatta

Hi all, I've just moved from an apartment to a house and I'm keen to go from stovetop partial mashes to BIAB using an urn. Unfortunately the budget is tight so I thought I'd see if anyone has a crown urn in good working order that they are willing to sell. I'm looking for 40L crown urn with a...

Hi all, Thanks for the responses. I'm using the 19L Big W pot and thought a tap might be over investing :D , but it looks like its the easiest way to go! Cheers Brendan

    Transferring wort for no chill

Hi all, I'm keen to try no chill but can't seem to find an answer to my question on the forum. I'm in an apartment so I'm trying to reduce my equipment and space needs while keeping the process as efficient as possible. As such I'm doing a few different variations on a stove top biab method...

Help, looking a fermentable malt extract

Hi Mark and Bribie, Thanks for the info. I will be mashing low to increase fermentability, however it was my understanding that some of the different brands of extracts varied in their level of fermentability (i.e. Coopers v Muntons v Black Rock)? Cheers Brendan

Help, looking a fermentable malt extract

Hi all, I've been partial mashing but thought this question would best bee answered in this forum. Every time I use an LDME or LLME my FG is always higher than expected. I've looked at the potential reasons for this and I think the fermentability of the extract is a big component. For my next...
