I grew Victoria and Cascade on the Sunshine Coast this season, in a very lazy fashion and harvested enough for 4 brews. I brought the rhizomes up from the Victorian Coast where I harvested a couple of Kgs in my first year, was crazy the amount of hops I had. Even had my then 6yo Girl picking...

    2010 Hop Plantations

It was the wind that damaged the cones, the heat hasn't been too bad here this "summer". We have had 3 hot days around 40deg, the rest has been humid or cloudy mild, which is not so good when you live at the beach in Vic..

    2010 Hop Plantations

My Cascade had the life beaten out of them over the last 2 days down here on the Vic west coast. The wind broke the support strings and bruised 75% of the cones. I was planing on a harvest today, which gave me 3 buckets of not so good cones. Never mind I'm sure the beer will taste deelux...

    Campfire Mega Jet Burner

I'm cooking with a $40 3 ring cast burner, run by a standard LP LPG BBQ reg. This brings my 40ltr pot to 70deg in 30mins and from there to a boil in another 15 to 20. I have knocked out 5 brews on this 9kg bottle so far. Just put a fire proof base under it and drop the pot on top, easy and cheap..

    2010 Hop Plantations

Planted my first rhizomes yesterday with 2 Cascade and one POR, they appear to be of a decent size with plenty of shoots. I will have them on the shed walls with height to grow of about 4 meters. I'm on the Victorian SW coast where shit just grows, so this should be good. Still have to set up...

    RecipeDB - Screwys JSAA Clone

I'm having a crack at this Amber at the moment, first go with S-04 and It seems to get out of the blocks well and dies in the arse half way through fermenting. It came down from 1048 to 1018 in 3 or so days, then slowed up to 1014 at day 6. Now at day 8 and its still slowly bubbling. Taste...
