I installed the new trim with the old seal, I will replace it if needed but seems to seal fine at the moment. I don't really want to spend any money on the fridge unless I have to considering how old it is....and with my luck with fermenting fridges the thing will most probably just die and go to scrap anyway (EDIT - which ironically it did in the end)
