Brew Stoped ?

i am new to all this my first brew all has gone well but the brew sems to have stoped fermenting
i started the brew which is draught 9 days ago the temp droped down to 18 deg inside the house
the brew shop said it may be to cold so i put it in a lizard encloser without the lizard and have set the temp firstly at 22 deg for two days. now its set at 25 deg it has been at two days and the reading does not seem to be changeing is this normal can i bottle at this reading :unsure:

18 degrees for an included-with-kit Ale yeast is a great temp.

22 degrees is too high...25 is way too high.

9 days at 18 degrees is plenty.

You should bottle it now, before the high temps make the yeast do stupid things like eat each other and make for really bad flavours!

Don't read the instructions that come with your kit...read here ;)

Oh goodness.

I remember when i did my first brew.

I read on the kit that it recomended between 18 and 27 deg so i settled on 22 deg.

It tasted like fruit punch and almost put me off brewing all together.

as was said above, disregard the instructions on the kits.

the person running your brew shop obviously has NO IDEA about breeing nice beer. in future just buy your stuff from there but dont listen to what they say. If they cant get the temp right they have no idea!

The wonderfull people here will set you on the path to brewing great beer at home that is better than you can buy.

some simple rulles to start you off.

use the kits, they are fine. Not the best but fine :)

chuck the yeast under the lid in the bin!!!

get a pack of US-56 dried yeast from your brew shop or order it from craftbrewer. The fella running this on line store spends a bit of time on here and can be trusted :)

Brew it as cool as you can. A slow cool firment is a good clean firment. Beers firmented at 25 deg look great with the boiling airlock and you can impress everyone by telling them it finnished in 24 hrs but noone will come back for a second glass.

firment ales at under 20 deg for a clean finnish. the US-56 yeast i mentioined before is perfect at 18 to 20 deg c.

another thing is dont use cane sugar. Use dextrose or dry light malt extract, or my fav when i was kit brewing, a 50/50 mix of the two.

once you have that up and running we will get you going on racking, bulk primimg ect.

and next thing you know you will be building breweries, grain mills and kegging systems like us :)

and then growing hops in your garden, you will have yeast cultures in the kitchen, it doesnt end.

FG of 1012 could mean anything if you don't say what ingredients you started with!

Since you said it's your first brew and its a draught, im guessing you did 1.7kg can of goo plus a kilo of sugar? If thats the case then i'd say you are right and your FG should be closer to 1006.

You can try swirling your fermentor around to mix things up a little and then wait a few days longer.

Welcome to the hobby, i mean obsession... oh btw once you get your home brewing to the way you like it there is no going back

Where do you live because the best way to start brewing is to use fresh wort kits.. I bought them from brewers choice for my first brews(though expensive and cheating), i still use them when I'm lazy.. Just use a good yeast and you'll have a very nice beer

Mostly yes, but sometimes no. What if he did all dextrose, then maybe did 1.5kg or even 2kg, then say he carbed towards the fizzy end. If that were the case he'd have bottle bombs.

Chances are it'll be ok, but you don't know, so don't just guess!
