Barra, not sure of the BTU output of these. I still have the old box mine came in, but a google of the name/make etc gave nothing at all. But from practical experience, the one I got from GnG is fine for boiling batches up to 100L and could probably do bigger batches too.

A good point was raised by a brewer at the recent BBD at my joint. His point was that the NASA type is good for a keg style kettle, however if you use the flat bottom style kettle which his was 60L, then a simple 2 or 3 ring would suffice due to the better even heat transfer across the base. He left his kettle here which I used with Thommo on the Sunday. I put my 2 ring under it boiling a double batch of Maibock and had the best rolling boil I've had in a long time.

It changed my opinion of it as I would like to get a nice kettle like his one day, even had a purpose built false bottom. Made it real easy to stand back and toss in plugs, runoff not a problem :)

So to put to an end of a long winded post, if you use a keg, the NASA style is good. If you use a flat style pot, there is no advantage purchasing one IMO.

Cheers.

 I think I know the brewer in question as I have had that exact same conversation with him in the past!

Just for the record, I have a 3-ring burner and have used it on double batches with no problems whatsoever. I am even getting my one re-jetted for natural gas next week. I could easily buy a NG mongolian but any more than a 3-ring is just not necessary IMO...

Best thing is Tim, is that the kettle is still sitting in my garage :) He doesn't use it much

Might get a workout this weekend :beerbang:
