Any Brew Clubs, or even Informal Brewer's Gatherings, in the Illawarra/Wollongong/South Coast Region of NSW?

There used to be a IBU subforum on here back in the day but that got deleted. Now it’s all scattered across discord, Facebook and WhatsApp. There’s still regular bulk buys for hops and grain happening. I don’t have admin rights but if you send me a pm I’ll ask to get you added to the various...

    Ferment in a Kettle (FIAK)

I think he's referring to the hot break when your wort reaches boiling.

    Ferment in a Kettle (FIAK)

Righto, thanks everyone. 👍 I just never considered it, I always chill and thought the no chillers just poored straight from the boil into cube. That’s how it always sounded to me when people talked about it.

    Ferment in a Kettle (FIAK)

Thank you Mark, very interesting. Pardon my ignorance, but it’s still not clear how hot break is removed when people do no chill brewing. It ends up in the trub after brewing doesn’t it? And from what I’ve seen most no chill people go straight from boil into the cube and don’t siphon out of...

    Ferment in a Kettle (FIAK)

How do the no chill people do it? Don’t they transfer hot break in their fermenter too? I’ve never done no chill but I guess if you transfer straight after boil into a cube you don’t have a cold break and you’re going to transfer trub into the cube. When you then transfer into a fermenter it’d...

    GUTEN

Cheers Weal. Doesn't look like there's much room to recirculate in that batch haha. I've got the very first generation of the Robobrew when KegKing still did them. These don't have a pump or overflow. I've been running a pump on the side but never missed the overflow. Just wait 10 mins after...

Excellent, this was exactly what I was thinking. And yes, if max step time is 3hrs then just repeat step 1 three times. Funny that it is possible, I had emailed KegKing with this question and they said it wasn't possible bc you have to press a button between steps. Great to hear this is actually...

Cheers Fro. Good to see you can do a ~5% beer no sparge double batch. That might get me over the line to update my current system. If i can delay the start that would seal the deal for sure. I believe the Brewzilla is able to do that, it's good feature for time poor people.

Thanks Bird. I guess WEAL simply uses a small silicon bung for that? And how about the mash steps, do you have to push a button to go to the next step or does the unit automatically go to the next step? btw 12-13kg of grain would give you 60L of about 1.040 - 1.045 wort? Thanks Fro. I was...

    GUTEN

Hi everyone, I have a question about the 70L Guten. Anyone tried a no sparge double batch of about 40L? I'm wondering if the unit is big enough to hold 9kg-10kg of grain, 55L-60L of liquid and still has enough head space to recirculate the wort.. Also, anyone used the mash programs for a...

    GUTEN

I've been following this thread for a little while now because I'm tossing up between Guten 70L and Brewzilla 65L. Good to see the helix did the job for you. How liters of wort/trub was lost on dead space after filling your cubes? I borrowed my mate's brewzilla 65L on the weekend and the...
