How Many Fridges Have You Got?

11, two for food. one for hops and yeast, two with six taps each. two upright fridges for staging finished kegs, three chest freezers for fermenting, and one upright freezer for forced carbing.

    Power Cut Beer

three days no power?...how about 6 days? Beer was either already fermented or CCing. Will see how they went in a day or two. Letting them get cold again. 135 liters caught in process. Hope they work. But then I still have a house, so losing the beer is no big deal really. We do have a...

Oh I see. Can't be of any help, sorry.

Air Con 3 phase vs 1 phase Help sparkies

If I may ask, how are you using 108 amps on each of three phases? That is using 324 amps....I use a lot, and my three phase transformer is rated for 60 amps. The biggest single breaker is 32 amps three phase for the brewery and the welder. Just wondering.

    Pid - Improving Ramp Time

Well, I can't read music either, so there you go. Glad to be of help mate.

    Pid - Improving Ramp Time

Has nothing to do with the voltage. If you have three ssr's rated at 12 volts, you only need 12 volts to run them all. It is the amperage that matters. Now, ssr's will work on a large variation of voltage, but each one will take what ever it is given. So if you use 24 volts it requires less...

    Pid - Improving Ramp Time

Mate, You do great drawings....I can wire anything, build most anything, but don't draw any of it. I just can't. Anyway....glad it makes sense. It means you understand it, and I see that you do. Go for the extra power to the brewery if you can. It opens a world of opportunities really. I just...

    Pid - Improving Ramp Time

Naw...electric would be cheaper for me as we have 5.5 Kw solar on the roof and electric is free, but I like to boil with gas....I use two different kettles, and another large pot to boil rice and corn for some beers. Handy that way.

    Yes, exactly like that.

    Pid - Improving Ramp Time

Kettle is gas. Use one of those loud folkers, (the name escapes me ATM, but some call it a turkey burner) but the radio is still louder so doesn't matter. No neighbors near by.

    Pid - Improving Ramp Time

The point you are missing is that where ever you are getting the power to heat the second element is what you need to still use. Just control the ssr with the same PID. Just add a lead with a plug to the second ssr and plug it into where ever you are doing it now. That is if I am understanding...

    Pid - Improving Ramp Time

not at all. I think your turning the second element on and off confuses the PID. It will handle any power, just needs to learn on a level playing field. Adding heat separately will only confuse it I reckon.

    Pid - Improving Ramp Time

Three 3 Kw elements. Three phase ssr, three 20 amp breakers. Can run one or two or three. Do run all three all the time. HLT only has one 2400 element....not in a hurry for hot water really.

    Pid - Improving Ramp Time

If you can run both on two different circuits at the same time than you can run both off the pid....I will assume you are using an ssr for the heating element controlled by the pid. If that is true, than just add another ssr for the other element and power each ssr on a different circuit and...

    Pid - Improving Ramp Time

why are you only controlling one element with the pid? why not both? I have a hex with 9000 watts of power and 9 meters of half inch copper in about 12 litres of water and ramp times are like 4 degrees a minute. I start mash with cold water and hit the start button. Come back later and five...

How Much Did You Brew 2012?

about the same every year. 2200 lts. brew a double batch at least once a week. Drink it all with a little help from some friends. We have 29 kegs and no empties at the moment. 12 on tap, so they are in various stages of becoming available for the three batches fermenting.

This is true, so he could add another GPO if the breakers are in fact big enough. But it seems he has it covered anyway.

    Pid Newbie Stuff

The standard wire used in homes is 2.5mm squared. It can handle up to like 30 amps. I am surprised that you only have 10 amp breakers. My house has 20 amp for the power points and 10 for the lighting circuits. Have a sparky check this for you, put in a 16 or 20 and you will be able to run all at...
