Induction brewing... anyone doing it? What induction element do you use.

My point was that even amongst the pans that worked, there were different results - some worked better than others. Induction is very good when the pan is optimal, hence a check, if possible, might be a good idea.

Induction brewing... anyone doing it? What induction element do you use.

Hi Jrrj It's been covered in the links earlier but our experience of changing to induction four years ago was that it's not easy to guess which pans will work well. In particular stainless steels ones - even those with "induction" written on them. So if you could borrow a one ring induction...

First crack at a Vanilla Milk Stout

Hello Jolls After nearly thirty kegs of Chocolate/coffee/vanilla/cream porter (my wife only drinks dark beer!) over the last few years, I'm at this stage: The lactose, currently 450g, goes in at 15 mins. This obviously bumps up the final gravity to 1.020. I've tried vanilla pods, chocolate...

Transfer hot wort to fermenter and then cool?

Hello Ckilner I too have the same set up and, at present, cool the wort in the BM with an immersion coil down to high 30s and then pump with the BM pump kit over to the fermenter and use the G20 to chill down to 12 or 18 degs. Maybe I'll try only cooling to high 40s if we go on to water...

    Off the shelf AG systems

Hello jgriffin I'm not sure how much you want to spend but I can put in a recommendation for the 20L braumeister. Expensive I know but it is a hobby not a business and after 150 brews, it's going fine. No stuck mashes and good for 1065 and a full corny at the end. Well built. I sold my GF...

    KegLand Questions and Answers

Hello SponsorSFC If you don't get any reply from Kegland, I connected my fermenter to a G20 with the single connector kit from New Era. Very expensive but does the job. There's a double one for even more! https://www.newerabrewing.com.au/accessories/?sort=featured&page=8 good luck.

WLP800 yeast: What is the recommended temperature to make a starter for Bohemian lager?

Hi Luke I took the attached extract off the Whitelabs web site in February - they mention 'room temperature' for the starter.

    Grainfather glycol chiller

I'm using an Icemaster d40 from Grain and Grape with the small SS brew tech unitank. Working well after ten batches. Chills faster than the GF I had before.

    7 gallon ss brew buckets

Hello Adamsec SS 7US gallon fermenters are irritatingly just undersized imo. I have a brewbucket (27L) and a 7G unitank and if they had been 30L it would be more comfortable. FYI for the Brewbucket there's 1.2L left to the base of the tap hole, 2L racking tube level, 1.3 to 1.5L tube down a...

    Temperature Controlled Conical - Options?

Hello Luxo I had a GF chiller and two of their stainless conicals for a couple of years and have recently (2 months) changed to the G20 shown by MashBasher and small SS brew tech unitank. The GF chiller was twice the price of the G20, which has worked better than the GF on the 3 brews done...

    Yeast pitching temp for lager

I'm new to having the ability to pressure ferment. It seems to be accepted that pressure will suppress ester formation in the same way as lowering the temperature. Now does anyone have figures to equate pressure v temp? e.g does 10psi at say 15 degs give you the same effect as zero pressure...

Dedicated Braumeister Guide, Problems & Solution Thread

Agree with MHB. I have a 3 year old BMv2 with over 70 brews done and Grainfather chiller & fermenters. I wish that my fermenter/chiller set up had the same level of quality as the BM. I use a boil setting of 103 at sea level to get a boil which is sufficient. I have had a neoprene cover but...

Dedicated Grainfather Guide, Problems and Solutions Thread

Hello Darren When I was using tank water for a chiller coil, the out flow went straight back into the house downpipe collector box. Maybe I'm missing something but it was dead simple and I wish I had it now (on town water). I have a GF glycol chiller with two of their conical fermenters and I...
