    Grumpy's Hoegaarden

Well I bottled it today. I let it sit for 4 days in the fermenter to let more of the sediment fall to the bottom. Smells REALLY good. Seriously cant wait 2 - 3 weeks now :-D Rossco

    Grumpy's Hoegaarden

Hey Gerald, Well we used a Sparge Vessle, Lauter Tun (Basically a filter in a bucket), Temp Probe, Timer, Big Stainless pot, Erlenmeyer flask (the scientific looking glass thing), hose, gas burner and a sieve. There was probably a couple more things but that was the main equipment. We only...

    Grumpy's Hoegaarden

DAM Right AG Shopping this weekend! Hi Maxy, unfortunately there are a little more processes involved than the normal coopers kits....having said that, with the right equipment (and expert guidance...your a chanp Adz!) its not as difficult as I thought. The hardest thing was keeping the...

    Grumpy's Hoegaarden

Well after a few weeks delay, Adzmax and myself finally got together to kick off the Grumpys Hoegaarden Clone. Grumpy's was a great kit. Pretty comprehensive. Its classified it as a partial as it came with a can of unhopped liquid malt. Still had to mash, boil, sparge etc. It came with 2 lots...

    Alternative To Coopers Bavarian Lager

Coopers Replaced the Bavarian with their European Larger. After 10 weeks in the bottle I cracked one and it was pretty close to the bavarian from what i remember. I couldnt tell you if its suitable for your kit though, sorry

    Water

Im not happy with the taste of the water coming out of my taps. The house is old and im sure the pipes are even older. Im sure I could filter it with something like waht adzmax has suggested, but for now I just buy two * 10L of bottled water containers. That and I can put them in the fridge...

    The Supermarket Challenge

I very rarely buy beer any more. Heck the last time I bought commercial beer it was only to get the corona bottles  I would choose a properly done (temp/yeast etc) homebrew kit (even a coopers supermarket tin...but not their 'original series') over a commercial beer anytime...

    The Supermarket Challenge

Hi Tony, I will probably get flamed for this but IMO, supermarket brewing is a great/cheap way to get started and learn the very basics of brewing. Its how i started and now im more excited about brewing than ever before. My next brew is a Partial Hoegaarden from grumpy's then i will be trying...

    Over Sanitising?

I started to sanitise my fermenter so i can kick off my Grumpy's Hoegaardenm kit. I used the coopers sanitiser and followed the recommended guidelines. I was called away for work and forgot to empty out the sanitising solution in the fermenter. It has been a week and im wondering if it...

    My First Brew... Need Reassurance.

I was worried for the first few brews, but the end result is still great beer. I have bought another fermenter to see if that is the problem (which will also help because i want to start racking) so will let you know. There is signs in the airlock that it has bubbled, but has never bubbled like...

    Bottling In Plastic Pet

I have just finished a batch of Coopers Sparkling where the last few bottles (Coopers PET) were over a year old. Although there was some carbonation loss (it was VERY minimal) what i found interesting is that there was a slight plastic taste to the beer. This definately wasnt present in the...

    My First Brew... Need Reassurance.

I have only done about 10 brews since starting last year (all coopers kits just to get some experience) and have never seen or heard my fermenter bubble...not once in the 10 brews. At first I was worried, as from what i have read it should be "Bubbling Like Crazy". Checked the seals, all air...

Any Ideas On What To Brew Next?

I have just finished drinking my Coopers Sparkling. Great Kit...infact the best I have ever made. The last bottle was 6 months old and oh what a drop. Dark, malty and full of flavour. I followed the directions to the letter (probably could have made it better if i freshened up the yeast) but I...
