    Cold crashing rate

I agree with Quokka, I've only ever cold crashed by immediately switching the fermentation fridge on, so that it reaches 0 - 1 degrees as quickly as possible. Generally I leave it at 1 degree for a whole day, then gelatine for another day and it's as clear as any commercial beer i've ever seen.

    Postboil Gravity vs Starting Gravity

I have been on the receiving end of stratification a couple of times now. I've finally learnt to stir my wort/beer prior to sampling for gravity, however I don't think it will be the last time i succumb to this!

Is KegLand actually going to respond to this thread, or just leave it up to speculation and hearsay by AHB members?

    Malt Mechanics 30L conical

I have one of these heat pads and just put it in the fridge, if it's particularly cold I wrap the heat belt around and between the two of them I seem to maintain good temp control. The only other feedback I have is you have to really, really (really) tighten the tri-clamp fittings. I've had one...

INKBIRD GIVEAWAY & AUD 40.14 for ITC-308 in our new AMAZON store

I just got the meat thermometer (number 2) a couple of weeks ago. Really fast temp readings (< 2 secs) from ambient to mash/boil. This is my number 1 thermometer now.

Anyone Else Force Carbed Using A Soda Stream?

Just revisiting this thread. After some research into using sodastreams/soda siphons to force carb beer (which seemed to be mainly negative involving exploding siphons or ruining non-glass siphons) I was dumb enough to try it myself. But, apart from a small amount of wastage, I found I had no...

Chill then whirlpool or whirlpool then chill?

Hi Will, I uae a long spoon to whirlpool then chill. Simply because I found it easier to get a good trub cone without the chiller in there. Then I gently put the immersion coil in. Worked for me!

    VIC 2017 Xmas Case-Swap Food

Do people want veggies on Saturday night if AJ80 is also doing coleslaw? The reason I ask is the webber will be full of brisket so if we do we'll just need a second barbeque/oven to house the veggies. I'm happy to pick up some on my way down.
