    2018 NSW State Comp

So shouldn't these two have been assigned unique entry numbers? Like 2074.1 and 2074.2, and been labelled as such?

    Australian Amateur Brewing Championship

Moonhead, keen to know what day that is in any case, my entry landed at the Grain and Grape yesterday according to Australia post.. Hoping there's a few days of the bottles hopefully being upright to allow for the bottle conditioning yeast to settle out again. No doubt my samples would have...

    2018 NSW State Comp

Huez, That is very interesting to me as a bottle conditioner only.. Which one was the higher scoring one? I guess unless your technique is flawless, there is likely to be more O2 damage to the one filled from the keg?

ESB 10th Anniversary Home Brew Competition - Monster Mash

Many thanks Peter and all involved for the competition, and also the results being made available so quickly, very much appreciated. Some really valuable and solid comments to take on board to improve my beer in there, many thanks to the judges for those.

    Wheat substitutes

The CSIRO have isolated a gluten free barley, after years of breeding and isolating lower and lower gluten strains over and over, now the product is becoming very popular in Europe for making gluten free beer there. It van't be called that in Aus as it doesn't quite pass our more stringent 20ppm...

Inner Sydney Brewers - Harbour City Brew-Off

Thanks for that Les, much appreciated. I did also notice in the BJCP 2015 doc under Specialty IPA 21B the overview, before it goes into the various colours of specialty IPA: 'Entry Instructions: Entrant must specify a strength (session, standard, double); if no strength is specified, standard...

Inner Sydney Brewers - Harbour City Brew-Off

Many thanks Barls and Cobalt. It's definitely in the Imperial IPA category, with almost 500g of hops and almost 10kg of grain in 23 litres for this one. That's why I thought it really doesn't fit any of those categories, Barls, I saw your post from 2015 on the ISB thread, about joining a...

Inner Sydney Brewers - Harbour City Brew-Off

Hi Colbatt, I like the sound of this comp! A quick question, I notice you have 21A American IPA and 21B Specialty IPA Brown and 21B Specialty IPA Black. I happen to have a recently brewed IIPA (definitely too strong to fit the 21A category at nigh on 10%ABV) but probably not quite dark...

    Australian Amateur Brewing Championship

Seems the commercial Avery Maharaja is definitely on the Imperial or double IPA end of the scale, with OG ranging from 1088 to 1093 depending on the recipes. Recipes include between 700g and 1.1kg LDME, so if you left that out, you'd probably be back in IPA range according to the style...
