    In support of homeopathy

About $200 on the price tag is my guess. I was amazed just how many private health insurers fund homeopathy and not counselling, except for a few apointments with a psychologist.

Leave it to die back a bit, then chop it off at the ground or just above ground. Leaving it to die back wll let it draw sugars back into the rhizome for next years start.

    Scaling hops for Mini BIAB

14g for 9L, seems reasonable, roughly 1.5g/L. Maybe a little light on. Looking at your spreadsheet you missed mentioning the 4g at flameout, bringing you up to 2g/L which is about right, especially with 13%AA, 2.5-3g/L with 9% in that recipe is moderate bitterness.

First year harvest of Cascade hops - no aroma

HPA aim for 24% dry matter before they pick thier Cascade. They are planning to pick Cascade on Tuesday, thier cones were pretty well deveolped, kind of stiff papery and quite oily/resinous, older plants though. Mine are a long way behind, two weeks at a guess and no where near the condition...

    Ratios : Pellets vs Flowers?

The above comments assume the flowers are dry. If the flowers are fresh you need to allow for the extra moisture they contain. For fresh (wet) hops multiply by about 4, so 100 g pellets = 400 g fresh flowers.

    Advice wanted on drying hops

On an open rack in your shed/garage with a fan blowing across them, this will get you to 20% moisture. Removing the 12% is the tricky bit I haven't worked out my strategy yet. There's a Basic Brewing Radio podcast on this exact topic 27/9/2012...

    First Year Hydroponic Hops

Anything which has roots on it will be hydroponic, Houston's cut leaf lettuce is grown in the ground, across the road from my Mum's house. A few years ago I was doing some book-keeping for a lady who claimed to be growing organo-ponic lettuce, I assume it was hydroponic without pesticides, not...

    Small-scale brewing...any recommendations?

I brew in a bag 5L batches, occassionally 10L. It is pretty safe to just scale the recipe for a 23L recipe as a 5L batch divide the amounts by 5/23, 100g becomes 22g, 5 kg becoms 1.09kg. You get a bit more losses for trub but oh well, you can drink a batch quicker and it gives you more...

Three weeks later and this has happened. Cascade is also 4.5m and burring up, it hasn't grown as well as Perle but is going to give me a small baggie.
