    Ebay Tomahawk Kegerators

Well I bit the bullet and ordered one of the Kegmate styke ones from ebay last night. They do look very, very similar to the kegmate units. Wouldn't be surprised if they came from the same factory. Can't wait to have kegs on for Christmas. :)

    Ebay Tomahawk Kegerators

Hi Dan, After more research I'm going to buy one of the kegmate-like ones on ebay instead of the tomahawk. Fits another keg and all in all looks like a better quality unit.

Lagering In A Fermenter - Have I Stuffed It?

Hi, On thursday I racked my first lager after a 3 day diacetyl rest at 20 deg, and crashed it to 2 degrees in my converted chest freezer. Something occurred to me this morning; I racked it into another fermenter (HDPE 25l barrel type) and am a bit concerned about oxidation. There's 23l of beer...

Acidulated Malt (weyermann) - My Experience

I've used acidulated malt (thanks Ross :))in my last 3 beers and am yet to detect any negative effect to the flavour of any. I add at a rate of 1.5 to 2% of grist. What I have noticed is a near 4% increase in efficiency, and as the only variable has been the use of Acidulated malt, I'd have to...

    Recipe Idea?

Man, that's a great selection of hops you've got. I'd strongly advise against a bittering addition of chinook, that is unless you want grapefruit beer. I've done it before and it's really overpowering and dominates any other hops in the beer. My 2 cents anyway.

Substituting Jw Ale For Pilsner Malt In Lager

Thanks for all the replies :) I went ahead and bought the 12.5 kg bag of JW Trad Ale. Am in the process of making an Amarillo Ale (waiting for boil to start). Tomorrow will be a roggenbier and saturday will do the lager and NC cube until the ferment fridge is free. Don't normally brew this...

Substituting Jw Ale For Pilsner Malt In Lager

Hi, I was wondering if anyone's tried substituting Ale malt for Pilsner malt in a lager before? I'm about to buy a 12.5kg bag of JW Trad Ale and would like to make a lager as one of the 3 AG beers I'll get from the bag. Should I go for it or wait until I get some Pilsner malt? Thanks for your...

Nottingham Dry Yeast Vs Wlp039 Nottingham Ale

Can't speak for the liquid yeast but I used dry Nottingham recently in a blonde. Came out with a definite dusty taste. Ruined what would have been a great beer, but all a learning experience I suppose! Probably be great in darker beers where there's enough oomph in the flavour to cover any dusty...

    Co2 Cylinder Hire

Well...called my local supagas outlet yesterday and asked for pricing information. $7 per month rental, but I can't remember what the lady said about refill cost coz all I could hear was $200 deposit!!!! You gotta be kidding me!?!?! Anyone else had to pay such a ridiculous deposit?? If that's...

    Co2 Cylinder Hire

Thanks for the info everyone. I'll give supagas a call tomorrow. Looking at their website looks like they may deliver it for free too, which would be a great help. Would love to own my own cylinder, but will probably need to rent for 6 months while I save up for one. Thanks again.

    Co2 Cylinder Hire

Hi, Been AG-ing for a while and now putting together keg system (no more bloody bottles!). After um-ing and ah-ing I've decided for now to give my hard earned cash to one of the evil corporations and hire a Co2 cylinder. Would love to buy a My Keg on Legs cylinder but with the impending birth...

    Not So Hefe Weizen

Mark, Almost exactly the same thing has happened to my Hefe. 35% Pilsener, 55% wheat, 10% munich. WLP300. Mashed at 66, primary for 6 days, then sat in secondary for 3 weeks as I didn't have time to bottle. Bottled it this morning and as it was running through the racking tube I thought...

    Countrybrewer Light Liquid Malt

I got to their Girraween store which is also their central warehouse. Have seen 44 gallon drums of Coopers liquid malt there a number of times so my guess is it's coopers.

    Post Natal Depression

Hi Steve, Only just saw this post but wanted to say hang in there mate. My wife has suffered chronic depression for a long, long time (since she was 15) and I know first hand how hard it can be. She's had a few stints in hospital and I know exactly what it's like to have to keep the show on...

2nd Ag (albeit 1st Successful!) Down And Fermenting

Hehe, you're correct. I never was good at maths  post edited Just took a SG reading. Is at 1014. Had a taste from test jar and ended up drinking the whole thing and proclaiming the greatness of AG brewing :) SWMBO thinks I'm strange, but what's new?
