Where to buy 23 litre kegs

I got one for Christmas a couple of years ago which came from them and was 25L. I've also seen them in stock at the one near me. Give them a call. It might just be something that doesn't get advertised.

    New Fridge Fermenter Project

I wired the stc into the fridges compressor, but I didn't use the fridges temp prob. Depending on the fridge I don't think you would be able to use the probe in the fridge as I think it's an oil probe. I just used the one that came with the thermostat. I also wired a gpo that is attached to the...

    Low gravity need advice

I had the same problem. After topping up with water I shook the hell out of it in the fermenter and it still came out with a low reading (not that low, but lower than expected). Ended up being ok by the end though.

    Infection Photo Thread

The gravity has finally changed. It's down to 50 (started at 64). Tasted it last night and it's pretty aweful and very sweet. I don't know how to explain the bad taste, it's definitely not good. I've never thought to taste the wort when first in the fermenter, so I can't even compare the...

    No chill in corny keg

I like the idea even if it's just being used to cool the wort in a enclosed container. When trying to cool in the pot as i'm doing now i've alway got a thought in the back of my mind 'I wonder if anything is going to get in' You could also attached a tube to the end of the liquid pickup (may...

It certainly does look like a mash, but definitely no grain in there. It's been poured through some muslin and also had about 1 - 2 litres left in the pot so that no trub got in either. The first week it was perfectly clear. This has only formed since the air lock started to bubble. The...

    Infection Photo Thread

After having no luck with my first lager and not having any activity for the first week I finally got some movement in the airlock in the second week. I thought great maybe it will be ok, but after another week the gravity still hadn't move and what I though may have been krausen doesn't really...

    Keg fail?

Is the cut jaggered or do you have slag that has covered the side of the keg. If so get a wire wheel and hit it with that. As said a scourer will do stuff all. Do you have any pics?

    First Lager

That was my concern. So if it wasn't aerated enough do think this batch won't ever ferment. Can lagers be done with out O2? I was going off a recipe that I altered to do a smaller batch, but hit the expected OG. The only thing I missed was I was hoping for closer to the 10l mark. I've taken a...

    First Lager

Yep, only been there for seven day and aerated by shaking the FV. The pack was smacked at the brew shop and put in the fridge when I got home. It didn't swell very much, but I think it had a very small hole in it which would have stopped that. I pitched a day later.

    First Lager

Thought I'd revive this one instead of creating a new thread as this is my first lager as well. I've done a pilsner with OG of 64 which has been sitting in the primary for the last 7 days and the gravity hasn't changed. It's only a 8 litre batch which has almost a whole pack of liquid yeast in...

    making smack packs go further

When you say throw it on top of the yeast cake, does that mean it's going on top of the trub that is left over as well. If so, Does that mean you'll have twice the amount of trub and will this have any effect on flavours?

    New to the brew

I've only just started brewing in the last couple of months and having a ball with it. I did my first batch in 330ml bottles and got over trying to clean that many bottles pretty quickly. So quick smart I looked into what I needed to do to set up some kegs. I'm now using a fridge that can hold...
