    Thanks for the advice. I'll taste as soon as I get home from work. I have no confidence that I'm capable of decerning anything useful myself but I do love tasting stuff. :)

    Need to buy a new hydrometer before I can get a SG. Didn't taste it but it swells very sweet.

    Post boil SG was 1.022 which was under the expected 1.039. Fun thing is that I broke my hydrometer cleaning up. I rehydrated at 35c as per instructions. Was a bit worried that the shock of going into the 18c wort might have killed it

    ok. Total noob here. Second brew. Brew day on Sunday seemed to go ok. Went into no chill cube. Pitched Windsor Danstar yeast monday night. might have stuffed up the re-hydration. Never seen it done before. Tuesday moring there was a great looking kausen on top. Wednesday morning and now this...

    Damn! What a day! Anthony at Craftbrewer was extremely helpful and sorted us with a recipe for a basic APA with mosaic hops. He explained things very well and filled in a few blanks I still had. But... we got started pretty late. By the time we did more reading, made some notes, cleaned...

    We have a bottle of Star San. Need to read more about using it though. Bit worried about inside of taps and where they join to kettles and tun.

    That's pretty much where I came to. We've been given an awesome lauter tun so we figured what the hell. Am honestly more worried about the fermentation anyway so I appreciate your post. Makes me feel like i'm starting to get this.

    Hello brew world We have just been gifted some serious brew kit. Only really beginning to understand my good luck the more I read. Jumping in the deep end. First all grain brew this Saturday. I think I've got my head around this but it could be a disaster. Ready for failure. Ready for fun. :)
