Yep, and they only had 7 bottles in stock, they gave me them and refunded the difference between the cost of those bottles (at case price) and the whole case.

FC swapped the bottles no questions, they were really nice about it. New feral is great, night and day difference.

To be clear I don't mean to badmouth Feral at all, I guess it's a stab at first choice if anything. I've probably bought 10 cases in the past year and have never had a bad one yet. Just seeing if anyone had a similar experience!

I bought a case of Hop Hog recently from First Choice. It had all the old green labels from last year. I've opened three from the case, all of them extremely carbonated, thin, sour and almost unpalatable. Now, I love IPA as much as anyone here, and there is definitely something wrong with this...

Apologies for digging up this old thread. I had the same thought as the OP after reading the wikpedia entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrogen_peroxide#Domestic_uses which states that H2O2 can be used in aquariums to give oxygen to fish n stuff...if fish stay alive then surely itll be fine...

2/3 of the homebrew stores ive been to have fill stations, one of them i didn't even know had one till I asked. Maybe ask your LHBS, or ring around and see if any do? filling is cheaper than swapping, plus you get to keep your shiny new cylinder :)

No, I'm with Nick in saying that dex is a useful adjunct. If you're using all malt for 1100+ beers you're doin it wrong.

Lol :rolleyes: I'm with nick 100% on this one. Trying brewing a big beer then quickly get sick of drinking thick sweet syrup, and realise you should have use dextrose for those last 40 points in OG.

I give mine a blast of co2 at about 300kpa to make sure it's all sealed, then just leave it wherever (out of the sun preferably). I've had a couple that have sat warm and uncarbonated for over 2 years, both just happened to be two of my favourite beers to date! A baltic porter and a Rye IIPA...

Yeah, plate chillers aren't really designed to chill like that. Maybe itll work if you pump subzero glycol back through the counterflow plates? I think most people use purpose built cold plates that are designed to cool down beer on its way to a tap (like what's in a jockey box), they're big...

Hey! Taking words out of context! :P I know northern brew in woonona have prepacked weight out bags of uncracked grain, ive never seen a full bag or a mill in his shop, so it wouldn't surprise me. that said, ive never asked or bought grain from him, since he charges about 500 billion times...

certainly do use them, but to get the right temperature you need to use some kind of externally wired thermostat. Have a search for STC1000 or fridgemate.

Brand for brand? From where? comparing BB ale and pilsner with weyermann or dingemans is not a fair comparison... If your HBS vac-packs their grain then it will last much longer when milled. I used a 7 month old cracked batch of grain from MHB and had zero efficiency or taste problems. In fact...
