    No Krausen On Top

My last brew, my 34th, a Cascade Draught with 500 gr Brew Sugar and yeast from can, brewed in fermenter with lid on, when I bottled it there was a lot of mould on the top so I chucked it. I'm always very careful with my sanitizing etc so I presumed that maybe the lid wasn't doing the job...

My local Kmart still have them or I should say have re-stocked them.....for a while they had hardly any and yesterday I bought a can, caps & carb drops and they also have BE1 & 2 quite a good stock at the moment so I hope they keep doing so.....handier for me as its local and LHBS is a longer...

    Help With Set Up

I think maybe you're talking about the "little bottler" that actually fits onto the tap on the fermenter when its time to bottle your brew. Well that's the only long thingy that I can think of.

    When To Bottle

Thanks for the help guys....have given it a swirl and wrapped a blanket around it. Hopefully that does the trick. Which beers are best to brew in the lower temperatures that we have down here in Vic at the moment?

    When To Bottle

Hi Guys, On 29th June Did a K&K of Black Rock Colonial Lager with 1 kg LME and yeast from can, its been sitting in fermenter at stable temp of around 14-18 degrees. Even though the airlock didn't bubble at all (I know, ignore ignore) plenty of condensation inside lid and gunk on top though. I...

    Adding Malt

Thanks for the replies guys...yes, I'm using kits and have brewed 11 so far - draught, mexican cervesa and canadian blonde. I've experimented with different sugars, dextrose, mixes from LHBS also BE1 or BE2. The first 2 or 3 I did were good but since then they've been a bit too bitter and I...

    Adding Malt

Probably a silly question but, if I add LME or LDM to my brew do I still need to add other sugars? I want to make a brew without the bitterness. Will the malt make it sweeter? Some help with brewing a beer without the bitter taste would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Manticle, thanks for the quick reply....I've just found some laundry soaker in the cupboard and it contains sodium percarbonate so will try that next time. Cheers.

Guess That Flavour.....or Why Does My Current Brew Smell Like My Last

I've made a dozen brews now and I always sanitise everything but still end up with the aftersmell in my fermenter. Should I also use this sodium percarbonate as you suggested, and if so, where do I buy that from? My LHBS or supermarket of elsewhere? Thanks for some help here.

    Non Bitter Kit Recipe

Thanks to everyone for your fast and helpful replies. Yes Drewcifer, we're trying to brew a light/low carb beer, 23L, and 3% is probably about right. I think we'll definitely give the dry malt extract a go with the next brew.....sounds like the Mexican is the better choice too from what you say...

    Non Bitter Kit Recipe

Any suggestions for a recipe to suit my wife. She likes Fosters Light Ice and I realise we cant get exactly the same flavour, but the brews we've made so far are 3 Coopers Canadian Blondes with 100 gr/150gr/200gr dextrose (in that order) and they're still too bitter. We bottled Mexican Cervesa...

Why Is My Brew Bubbling To Top Of Fermenter?

Hi, This is my 4th brew and other times I haven't had this happen. It starting bubbling about 14 hours ago and in the last hour or so its bubbled almost to the top of the fermenter and even up into the airlock so I've had to add more water to the airlock. I'm using Coopers Draught and sugar...
