    Bohemian Pilsner In Secondary

Thanks all for the replies I did a refractometer reading and its reading 1.022, seems a little high? so I'll take another reading when I get home in the morning. If it shows its finished fermenting, I'll drop the temp gradually to 2c and leave it in secondary another 2 months. Then I'll bottle...

    Bohemian Pilsner In Secondary

Hi All I have done my 1st all grain Bohemian Pilsner. It fermented for 9 days at 12c, at this time it was down to 1 bubble every ten minutes through the airlock. I have racked it down to the secondary and dropped the temp progressively to 10.5 degrees over 5 days. My question is How long...

    Homemade Jerky

I use a food dehydrator for jerky, have a look on ebay you can get them fairly cheaply. I use topside steak cut thinly. You want no fat, as fat doesn't dehydrate well, it turns to a gell like substance. You can use Masterfoods, seasoning all, or Bush spice, marinades or most any other salts or...

    Refractometer

Bought mine and used it on my last two batches, great tool, wish I had bought it years ago. I make sure its zeroed before each reading and have tested it against my hydrometer each time, no discernable difference between the hydrometer and the refractometer.

55 Ltr Esky For 23 Ltr Batches

I use a 55l esky also. I have no problems with 23l batches. I have a 2200w element in mine, also one in my HLT (got sick of lifting pots of hot water), My HLT has a sight gauge so I fill it with a garden hose to level, heat the water with the element and drain it to the Mash Tun when ready. The...

    Show us your brewrig

Hi Mike Sorry for late reply, chrissie and all. I have a 2200 watt element in each of the mash tun and HLT, Pre heat the mash water and toss in the grain, turn on element if temp starts to drop, it doesn't scorch the grain for the brief amount of time I turn it back on for. I heat the sparge...

    50l Esky-brand Cooler As Tun

Hi Bizier I use a 55ltr esky with very little loss of temp. Where the bung is you place a 1/2" ball valve. In mine I have a 2200watt element, a thermometer, a copper sparge manifold in the lid and a copper manifold in the bottom. Below is a link to a web site i'm designing to show my setup...
