Beer motivated trip to Belgium... anyone been there?

There is a bar in Antwerp which specializes in very old beers. Unfortunately, I only found out about it when I got home. The bar has a sign, "Are you here to drink or taste?" Maybe worth looking up if you are nearby. Some beers are reputed to be 40 tears old.

Beer motivated trip to Belgium... anyone been there?

I found that getting to breweries was a bit of a problem. They are situated out of town, very little public transport was available, you seem to have 2 options, get a driver, or maybe ride a bike (could pose problems with alcohol) I found it very difficult to find a beer under 8% abv. My wife...

Ideas for a new homebrewery garage

I lift my grain tube with a 240 volt winch mounted on the wall, I have fitted a pulley in the ceiling over where I have my BM set up, The winch took too much space in this situation. I made up a drip tray to stop the drips falling onto the floor. There are photos on this site somewhere, I'll look.

Ideas for a new homebrewery garage

Go for 20 amps, a verandah for when you are boiling, I have my BM50 on wheels so move it outside when boiling. My shed is 7x3 meters and this is just big enough. Get a 20 amp cable extension.

    Stellar San and Star San

The idea of "not fearing the foam" scares the hell out me. So I have been mixing 40% food grade phosphoric acid which I can buy locally in 5 litre containers with Stella San and Atomic. I find that about 20% of either of the sans blended with the Phosphoric acid gives me more than sufficient...

    Co2 Leaking - Had Enough

I only brew ales and heffeweizens. I had problems with a 4 way gas splitter. I put in a water trough, it was easy to see the leak, I would not use them now. I use spunding valves, be warned these leak as well. I have replaced the grey PRV's with red PRV's which should??? release the pressure...

    Keg King Intertap

This 270mm is to the bottom of the tap? I bought a tower from you in the past and it will not fill a 500ml German beer glass, I discussed this at the time of my purchase, and did not get a satisfactory response.

Dedicated Braumeister Guide, Problems & Solution Thread

Thanks WEF, I am starting to think that I have bought a superseded wifi module and that Speidels do not appear anxious to sort it out. I really want to overcome the fogging up and bending over to control the BM. A new model was advertised on a recent BYO mag.

Dedicated Braumeister Guide, Problems & Solution Thread

Does any one have an easy fix to connect the wifi module? My BM is in the brew shed 20 meters from the router in direct line through a large glass window. Speidel suplied a 30 cm cable, my PC with USB is inside the house.

    KegLand Questions and Answers

I live in the bush, distance from suppliers and high temperatures don't allow for me to even think about liquid yeasts. Lallemand yeasts work well for me. I had some success with mangrove Jack too. I am looking forward to more choice with dry yeasts.

    Gout remedies that work

My understanding is that purines as found in beans, shell fish and preserved meats should be avoided if one is suffering from gout, as well as alcohol.

    Beersmith 3

I've noticed the same as well. I am able to access the local water profile which is updated annually. I prefer to use Beersmith because it sets the salt additions directly into the recipe. I usually to make Heffeweizens and Australian Sparkling Ales. Beersmith seems to work for me.
