Kit ginger beer recipe using malts

I do this quite often in summer, just a tin of goo, a kilo of malt extract, and yeast. Ferment for a fortnight and keg. Nice on a hot summers day.

I stopped using any sugar, and now use a kilo of Light Dry Malt. That with some good hops does it for me!

Brendon McCullum. A credit to NZ, Steve Smith.....well

"I had heard that one of the reasons that they are so successful is that there has been a culture which demands respect for the jersey etc of anyone who comes into the team. Yoiur point is one which does come to mind." Pierre that is quite true the players and those younger have huge respect...

Bugger - or should this be in the Rant thread then!

Filled my Co2 bottle last Sunday, and either I have a significant leak heretofore not seen or I got ripped off as I am out of gas! LHBS has a good reputation so I guess I have got some investigating to do after I fill up again! Lucky I finish at 2pm tomorrow and can swap a bottle before the...

    windows 10 upgrade

Have you searched Windows 10 on this forum as there has been quite a lot of discussion on the subject. I have upgraded a desktop and laptop, with few issues. My desktop runs 2 monitors which was an issue to begin with but now ok.

    Vinyl planks or laminate

Agree with Wide Eyed, although the upfront cost is more, there is a much longer life with bamboo, and less concern with spilled liquids. With laminate the bottom of the board is either HDF or MDF and so any liquid will turn it into mush. With bamboo, it can be sanded back in 10-15 years and...

Keg and beer line hygiene etc.

Every brew when cleaning the next keg I run a couple of litres of hot water through the line - it doubles to clean out the pickup tube in the keg, but also gives the beer line a clean. Then soak the beer disconnect in that water for a bit to give it a clean also. From time to time I also take...

    WA Beer & Beef Festival

Very enjoyable day at the festival yesterday, enjoying a warm sunny day in the country and consuming some nice beer at the same time. You could buy a lanyard and glass for free tasting at each of the outlets, most of which rotated through their offerings throughout the day. Some breweries of...

CO2 Swap and Go or Wait for a Fill

I swap on most occasions but from time to time have to get it filled, which only takes 10 minutes or so. It depends which LHBS I go to. I am surprised at your 1/2 a week!

    Keg Systems & Conditioning

I can only go by my experience, but I find if I use normal serving pressure in my 9l I just get foam - unless it is just a balancing issue as I am using a short hose and a pluto tap.

    Keg Systems & Conditioning

Good on you for going down the keg path, it's a much easier life than bottling. That said I haven't tried solely with 9l kegs. One of the things to consider is how to carbonate - you can do so over a few days, or using the rock and roll method almost instantaneously. Generally speaking - I...
