Hey Masters, Sorry to say as im starting out, i have pretty much no control over the temps. Temp ranged 8-18C. I put on a heater belt after i realised that it was getting so low overnight, but the temps would have still been up and down. I need some ghetto insulation or something.

Nah its ok. Its not a popular colour and you could just swap it for something with better contrast against the topics background. Just put down another brew. Even after so many screwed up batches you still hafta keep trying.

Sorry byran, I'm pretty new and didn't know that I had to select the title colour. Thought it was determined by either forum or member status?

Ok, will try to swirl and see if it starts up again. The OG was supposed to be 1.047 per the recipe but i was an idiot and didnt measure the OG. I made a lot of mistakes on the first one. The ingredients were 3kg LME filled to about 23L (again i didnt measure it exactly just filled to the line)...

Hi guys, I have a kit brew (mangrove jacks gold ale) that's been fermenting for 3 weeks. I think its the cold weather slowing it down because the thermometer is showing about 12C in the evening. Anyways i put the heating belt on it to get it up around 16-18C and the gravity was going down...

I'm in the same boat beer-head, I have no idea where to go from kits. There was another thread about beefing up kits where the usual advice was given: use a decent yeast n hops, maybe try specialty grains. Next time im going to try can+dme+steeping crystal malt to compare against my pure kit...
