How Much Are You Getting Out Of A Sodastream Bottle?

I don't use them, but I think the soda stream gas is pretty expensive for what you get - when I was looking into getting a soda stream unit, with the cost of the gas it worked out just as cheap to buy cola from the supermarket - they only gas up something like 30 to 50 litres of water before...

How Often Do You Break Your Hydrometers?

Got can of goo #3 going at the moment, so not at all advanced yet - a trip to the brew shop would be the best idea right now to get the right idea of what stuff to pick up to start doing some better brews. Until I get a better handle on things would rather the personal touch rather than mail order.

How Often Do You Break Your Hydrometers?

Might make the trek to a home brew shop soon, see what my day ends up looking like tomorrow. Otherwise will order one; just would rather be ordering a decent amount of stuff to make it worthwhile when I do rather than just one thing. But thanks for the offer.

How Often Do You Break Your Hydrometers?

Just wondering how many hydrometers get broken. First time I brewed when I started a couple of years ago (before a couple of year hiatus), managed to break the hydrometer on the first kit I did I think. Anyway, now I am back into it, have brew number 3 in bubbling away and have another 2...

    Increasing Alcohol Percentage

A follow up on this: Put the brew down on the 27th of July and today have bottled it. Ended up putting a coupel fo chilli's in, an extra couple of hundred grams of sliced ginger, and put in 1kg of dextrose and 1kg or raw sugar. Initially temps were not too warm - around 15 degrees. After a...

    Increasing Alcohol Percentage

Hi all, first post here, have been reading for a little while now though. Firstly, I did do a search, but didn't find much of any use. So as the title puts it, how do I increase the alcohol percentage of a brew? I started to get into home brewing about 3 years ago, put down my first brew...
