shh, its my thread :P thanks for the help again guys. ive found out ill be back from interstate, the day my brew hits 2 weeks in fermenter so ill wait n see what its like before i leave before i do anything :)

i actually didnt feel to stupid doing... i was just laughing. my brew is sitting at 18C now, and has been since last night (checked then and this morning :) ) it smells yeasty and i even saw some bubbles go through the airlock :D

ok, i think ill leave it 20-22 (which it is at currently) and hopefully bottle it before i go away! then once im back ill put down another batch. is that generally the way it goes? one done, another down? :) to add to the stockpile :D

ta :) so unplug heater tonight, or tomorrow morning? guess ill wait n see how next week pans out before i make any decisions, but if i can leave it happily sitting there for just over 2 weeks, that would be awesome :)

mmm alright. how long will it take approximately then? ive just got a call saying im working from saturday week for probably over a week, interstate, so will this be a problem? can i leave it in the fermenter for 2.5-3 weeks? or shall i get my grandfather to come past n bottle it for me?

should i just unplug the heater then? :)

seems as someone linked me to this from one thread... that im obliged to post :P first time brewing today, got my kit yesterday. came on here seeking help for a problem i had - my hydrometer wasnt working. people were helpful, but couldnt get it right... a few hours later i looked at it...

thanks :P i think ive manager to get everything else together in the right way! hahah. :) thanks for confirming the ways i thought you did the readings. seems like this is going to be a helpful site, will be nice once i can start helping (anyone putting meters in round the wrong way?... :D )

HAHAHAHH. oh dear. ive made a very embarrasing mistake here. i was putting the hydrometer in upside down *hits head on desk* hahahah. that counts as my stupid newbie mistake :) i hope i sanitised everything enough, i did a pretty thorough job i reckon. guess ill give it a week or so n see how...

well, thanks :) im trying not to worry, just when it didnt float... i know its not a vital part (using it) but id like to be doing it as properly as i can :) thanks... even though i dont have the first reading, i assume i can still use the final readings to know when its done? cheers!

thanks for the replies :) i'll get a pic once i find the camera haha :) so completely fill the tube then put the meter in? it was coopers european lager kit, and it said it was a lager yeast. the only adjunct i put in was the 'sugar' that came with the kit, which was 500g malt extract and...

i fill it about 3/4 of the tube, is this the right amount? and its sitting on about 22C, should i try and get it down? the kit came with an immersion heater so that is in there, set at about 21-22. the kit was a lager so it might be a bit high? but i can just turn the heater on and off easy...
