    Mmmmmm Bacon

Hello Thirsty. Some questions re Liquid smoke. Do you mix the liquid smoke with the cure and for how long do you marinade in the LS.. Also, when you bake the bacon do you bake at low temp ie like a normal hot smoke and for the same time. Thanks in advance. Dave

    Epic Pale Ale Clone

Ok, have brewed this one from the recipe here It finished at 1010 so was a bit worried it will be too dry but having gone back through this thread that 1011 is about where it should finish. As usual I was limited in obtaining the exact malts used but was able to get Simpsons GP, Global and JW...

What's A Good Discworld Book To Start On?

The first one I read was Guards! Guards! Not the first in the series but the first City Watch story. IMO the City Watch stories are the best but they are all good. Like Bum said the books are mostly not in sequence so whatever you can get your hands on. Enjoy, his humour reminds me of Douglas...

    Let's Freeze Some Yeast

Just froze 80mls of top cropped 1272 with 25mls of glycerine in a sterile 500ml glass bottle. Not very scientific, about 30% glycerine. 25mls Sitting in a small esky with another block of ice. Has not frozen solid, still in liquid form. Will leave it a month or two and see how it goes.

20l Stovetop All Grain Aussie Lager

+1 The "Brew Day" page on Brewmate is very useful. BS is great but too much there for my purposes. Brewmate is awesome.

Stockpots For Ag Brewing - What , Where , How Much ?

I use over the side electric elements so I don't think that is relevant to me but nonetheless I wouldn't buy a cheapie given quality aluminium is not too expensive. The cheapies look like they would ding easily. Also they were a different shape, that is wider at the top and shorter for the same...

Places To Visit Over Easter (port Macq -> Parramatta)

There is not much to see at Wicked Elf. Most likely to be closed. Don't mind one of their pale ales though.

Stockpots For Ag Brewing - What , Where , How Much ?

Don't know where you are in Melbourne. I bought mine here http://www.cedarhospitality.com/ They are in Brunswick. Good range, only quality stuff. Bought the 50L Aluminium. They were out of stock at the time of the 60l but every happy with the 50L. Cost around 80 bucks I think, It's heavy...

    Wyeast 1469 West Yorkshire Ale

In a case of you snooze you lose I neglected to buy 1469 last time it was around. I emailed Wyeast. Pleasantly surprised, they emaied back within hours. It's coming back in the "last quarter" of the year.

    Let's Freeze Some Yeast

Sounds like better have too much glycerine than too little.

    Let's Freeze Some Yeast

I'm not too fussed about using yeast over and over but i would like to reuse yeast at a later time one or twice to reduce costs. I am able to access larger sterile containers. I wonder if you could freeze the required amount (for another batch) of yeast cake in one container. Prior to brew day...

    Saflager W34/70

The only issue I have with this yeast is that it costs about $19 for 2 sachets. Much more than other Fermentis products.

    Trouble With Customs & Hops?

I notice on the Hops Direct FAQ's they don't send orders overseas. I take it that this has changed. What are their shipping prices like? Cheers Dave Edit, Didn't read all previous posts. 5 pounds is $43.
